Latterly, Bill's bass player has been one Dave Sturt, a Teesside lad. He was a great bass player even in his late teens (in the late 70s) ... trying to remember the name of his band. Might have been Deja Vu.

Dave was the only other bass player I knew around Teesside who played fretless. It was pretty unfashionable in the punk/post-punk era (probably still is). Last time we communicated, about 12 years ago, he said he was still persevering with fretless in the hope that one day it becomes hip He was, I'm not afraid to say, a better fretless bass player than me ... even though I did end up playing as a pro in the 80s for a while.

Edit: he just said his band was Moulin Rouge .... I knew it was something french.
