Boro flashback - Boro 1 Blackburn 5

I was in the south terrace, chicken run, along with erimus senior 40 years ago today
Whoever was there that day will have witnessed Noel Brotherson, RIP, absolutely torture us from kick off, we were on the end of a few thumpings that season

3 down within 25 minutes & 4 down at HT

Yellow rose before the game, a few beers then a 5 minute walk to Ayresome Park

Jim Platt
Paul Ward
Joe Bolton
Mick Baxter
Colin Ross
Darren Wood
Mick Kennedy
Ray Hankin
Heine Otto
Stephen Bell
David Shearer
Sub
Terry Cochrane.

Attendance: 10,821

Dispite the grim times back then between 1981 to 1986 I still look back with fondness on those days supporting & following the Boro to away games

IMHO, big Mal was good for us, dragging us away from a consecutive relegation

Am I right, that was one of three 5-0 or 5-1 results, including one against Grimsby Town.
I recall we slumped to a crowd of around 5000 during that dreadful period of our history.
Holgate felt like a mortuary
:(

Our first 3 home games that season were 4-1 defeats, including Grimsby.
The others were Burnley and Fulham.

The Blackburn defeat was followed by a 4-0 defeat at Wolves

I made reference to this game on the 'An experiment to try and prove a point' thread earlier this morning. Genuinely didn't realise it was exactly 40 years ago today!

There was actually a bit of quality in that team but it didn’t quite fire properly.

Less than that on a few occasions

Ray Hankin was signed this season

Sent off on his debut at home to Grimsby in a 4-1 defeat

Only scored 3 goals
one in the league, one in the League cup, against his 1st club Burnley & FAC
