I accept it's completely my choice but I'm still posting on here despite having taken dogs abuse on here. A poster from here who was also a COB contributor had regular threads about me on there saying all kinds of vile stuff.

Is it just reflective of modern society that if people disagree with each other and a bit of stick is handed out that people have a flounce?

Cut you some slack AET, to be fair you've had a rough time recently by the sounds of it, people should be considerate.

American Mary is often the voice of reason on here. I'll give you that. Newy is a visionary and an artist. He's light-years ahead of most of you. I had that epic chess battle with him once on Norton green. It ended in stalemate. He can't beat me, and I can't beat him. That's frustrating, but I respect the flip out of him.

Fine, that’s your experience. It is not mine. You may also wish to investigate the funding role played by US pharma giants here; if you wish to have more to contribute than your own observations.

Your priority has to be you. Good on ya for making the decision.
There are very few on here now that are down right nasty.
Others can be are just a bit careless and, for people suffering from mental health issues, this can have real consequences.

Look after yourself and I hope you still find a way of sharing when you want to.
 
AET can be very snappy on here with people and take things to heart. Poor mental health, nowhere near as bad as his by the sounds of it, has made me react in similar ways in the past. However it's important we recognise that in retrospect and then take responsibility for our attitude. Poor mental health is not an excuse to treat others poorly.

You can’t expect someone with poor mental health.. to have good mental health.

The flippant way that some people throw around some very heavy subjects should be looked at with a little more care.

I’m not saying that everyone should get a free pass to say what ever they want, but some of the comments from AET were utterly heartbreaking.. if you take a step back and read them back.

Folks just want to fit it and be accepted and be liked.

Some comments are obviously controversial but others not so much. You never know what might be a trigger.
When in a discussion on a message board it is not feasible to consider everyone's state of mind / mental health before posting.
It's just a shame you can't question or disagree with some posters without facing a backlash from both them and the board in general. Even if no offence was ever intended.

You're right, you can't. Equally though, you can't pretend every facet of someone's personality down to the tone of sooo many posts where he's disagreed with by someone is determined by their mental illness.

It isn't a free pass to be rude to others and then not acknowledge it afterwards in better moments.

I've taken a step back and read them. Almost every thread he's ever posted. I've offered support in the past and will continue to do so. Don't confuse my preference for how mental health and behaviour associated with is taken and responded to for a lack of empathy. My empathy for him in what is evidently a very real struggle, knows no bounds.

This is exactly how I feel too. I feel deeply for AET and his struggles and would always offer my support if he needed it. I’ve also noticed though that he takes any form of disagreement or challenge very personally. He then responds very rudely and aggressively in return. That isn’t right.
