On unicorns.....we had a great early summer, bordering on drought conditions, this has been on since the kids broke up. Perhaps we're finally getting a monsoon season.

Doesn’t a monsoon season need to include warm or hot weather to absorb the moisture. Not just cold, wet and generally miserable (a bit like myself).

I do like the idea of a weather system being controlled by unicorns and pixies instead of El Niño though.

I've always thought that school holidays should be in July. The weather is often better and the days are longer. The french have the right idea taking all July and August off to cover all bases. PS It's pouring down here in Normandy too.

Schools stop for the summer months in July and August here in Northern Ireland as well.

Makes no difference. The sun normally shines here in June, it rains all July and August and then Mr Sunshine reappears in September when the kids are back.

I'm wearing shorts, isn't that warm enough
