This is a very hard thread to write

Good luck mate, after my recent experiences in two hospitals since last October, I hope you are in one of the better wards in one of the better hospitals it makes a world of difference.

The poor old NHS has been beaten to its knees by the government

Best wishes for a speedy recovery mate, you’re in the best place. I had a couple of close calls with my health in 2017 & 2019 and in different circumstances I wouldn’t have been here now.
It’s happened and you can’t change that, but it’s not the end of the world. I found it more difficult dealing with the mental side of it than the physical side and I’m guessing at your young age you could be the same.

Look after yourself buddy

I hope you get your medical problems sorted out and make a full recovery. Age in on your side.

Best wishes.

Blimey, VAN. I bet this has been a shock to the system. I've had my own heart issues and had a triple bypass in November 21, and can safely say the NHS is a miracle, and the people on here are a great source of moral support. Fingers crossed that you get the right treatment ASAP and are back on your feet and fighting fit soon! If you need someone to talk to, drop me a DM. All the best, mate.

Best wishes I had the same experience 6 months ago, I have just finished my rehab course and feel fitter and stronger than I did before my Nstemi good luck

I started reading this thread last night but was too upset so had to stop. Reading through it now is really comforting.

I was thinking last night, surely I won’t perish before I’ve seen the Boro get promoted one more time. Or knocked Man United out of one of the cups again.

It’s amazing where your mind takes you.

Right now I’m sitting up and packed with medicine. I feel fragile but they said that’s natural due to the medication. We’ll see how today goes. But thank you everyone for taking the time to write a post, it has really helped reading through them.

Hope it all goes well for you VAN. Keep checking in so that we know that you are still alive.

This is absolutely true - I said to my other half on New Year’s Day that I had a weird feeling about 2024. I wasn’t looking forward to it. I think I sensed something at work was brewing so there was stress there, and then that was proven correct when I was made redundant, but I’ve known for ages that something wasn’t right in my body.

It took me roughly one year to see my GP to speak about it. I described my symptoms and he said “did it feel like you were having a heart attack?” and I said yes it did and he replied “well you weren’t,” and proscribed me Propranolol. Which I never took because I knew it wasn’t ‘just’ anxiety. He was so brash and uninterested. I didn’t trust him. You just never think it will be this though.

But I’m lying in hospital having been told that I’ve had at least one heart attack in the past couple of weeks. I’ve been having what I thought was panic attacks most of this year, which seemed to come to a head a couple of weeks ago. I had a really bad one but would never have thought it was a heart attack.

I had another one on Friday. I knew something bad was happening because the sharp, intense and burning pain in my chest was like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I decided to take aspirin and Gaviscon and then rest. But I can’t walk for even a minute without feeling breathless.

I called 111 today and saw a doctor and they sent me here. Lewisham Hospital A&E. I’ve just had an injection in my stomach to thin my blood. And then this week it’s an angiogram.

A heart attack at 41. Absolutely mad.
All the very best Viv.
