It amazes me how quickly so many people moved so quickly from being British European foreign policy experts to consultant virologists in just a couple of months

Who knows?Because it’s only been in circulation across the world once
What would your basis be for it to be a second wave
Who knows?
I also know viruses mutate, sometimes for the worse and sometimes for the 'better'.
Does it? Hell, you learn something new everyday. There are reports the virus is weakening. Apparently the Spanish flu virus still exists in the population, it’s just weakened to the point of not mattering.
(speaking as a consultant virologist )
We have better access to data and better understanding of transmissions, these days. If this had happened 100 years ago it would almost certainly have killed many many more people. There will be second spikes, but action will be taken, and sensible people will then take precautions to protect their family. The second wave might be bigger but it won't be anything like the second wave of spanish fluWhat are you basing that on?
Different disease and a different time I know but the second wave of Spanish flu was significantly worse.
Maybe not. But where were the sensible people telling us what precautions to take in the first wave?We have better access to data and better understanding of transmissions, these days.
