Just to be clear, this is not really meant as a criticism of Glover as such. He’s just extremely committed to the philosophy. I mean playing it out to Fry last night when he did, he must’ve known Sterling was charging towards Fry and that he was playing into trouble. I understand he is following instructions but he *seems* to play more ‘risky’ passes than Dieng does.
I know I said he’s a mad one, I base that on a few things - his driven, straight-as-a-dye passes into a player in the centre circle, which *feel* really unusual and I really like, his commitment to the playing style, the way when he catches a cross he is instantly looking to play the ball out and start a counter, and his wild, McGree-inspired half-mullet.
He’s done well for us. I think he’s a fairly unusual ‘keeper, or is when compared to other Boro ‘keepers I’ve seen play for us. It doesn’t mean I think he’s sh*t, or don’t like him. I just think Dieng is better and that is borne out by some of the things we’ve seen on the field this season.
