Thought Warnock and Boro were supposed to be doing really well?

Got to admit, I rarely get chance to keep up to date with football these days. I tend to dip in and out of it but it's been more out than in of late, especially with the absence of crowds. Anyway, I had assumed Boro were right up there challenging for promotion. That perception was gauged from noticing the odd thread on here. I don't normally look at the football threads, it's mainly current affairs, politics and boxing that I like to look at. But going off thread titles, etc - I thought Warnock might soon be leading Boro to the Champions League. Hence my surprise when looking at the league table and seeing they are mid table in 10th position!

With pretty much the same team as last season we are doing incredibly well, and think we are still going to finish top 6, things are really looking up.....👍

Forgive my ignorance, gents. I guess it was just the expectation to see something exceptional going on. Maybe the league table is lying 😆

Gibson appointed Woodgate to lower expectations. Job done. Now instead of whining about the team not playing pretty enough football, everyone's delighted to be in midtable, don't care if we're hoofing the ball and not scoring, and hanging off the managers every word. Gibson is no mug.

What a hugely cynical but largely accurate view of affairs. :)

Nevertheless I'm enjoying proceedings thus far. (y)

Just to clarify, I have no horse in this race so there's no agenda that I'm attempting to stimulate. It should be said that I thought Woodgate probably shouldn't be managing Billingham, nevermind Boro. It was just surprising to see the league table position in relation to what I was expecting it to be. I guess the league table is fairly compact with regards to distribution of points. Also, maybe the Boro have been playing some good stuff and that is keeping fans happy.

Expo?

I didn't much enjoy yesterday mind.
Alas I suspect that the relentless grind of games is starting to catch up with us, small squad and all. When I watch the games we are working really hard and I can't help thinking that that sort of intensity is going to be hard to maintain in every game. I also think that when you are solely reliant on keeping the 'goals against' column to a minimum it is psychologically wearing for the team. I always remember Stuart Boam making a comment along the lines that the defence were getting a bit tired of the attack 'scratching around' for goals during a bit of a barren spell.
