Today is still the phoney war

Momentum is very very important. We need to perform today and win.

No it’s not.

Ok so if we win today that guarantees a victory the following week does it

of course not. As then cov will be up for it and have a point to prove etc. it works both ways.

Todays means nothing

It’s always nice to win the last home game, regardless of where we are in the table. I think that we should play our strongest, fittest, team but not risk anyone who is not 100%.
The eleven who play should go for the win, but no silly sending-offs or bookings for taking your shirt off (Chuba, I mean you!). Of course if Mackems are winning with 5 mins to go and need Coventry to lose then I may change my mind.

You should all probably just agree to disagree.

Jedi is right though

A win would be nice, a good performance better. Not really bothered though.

There is no such thing as form. How a team plays in one game and its result has no effect on the next game, even if it is against the same team.

I do think there is something about rhythm.
Players coming back from injury are always a bit off match pace. When fit players play a little off the pace (as they did at Rotherham) then they too lose rhythm.
I don’t mind as much about the result today as I do the players being at it, because I don’t think we are good enough to just turn it on when we fancy.

Bit of a weird end to the season.
Since we guaranteed the Play Off spot it’s taken some of the excitement away. Edginess can creep in - consider Hayden’s crazy challenge last week that could have easily got him a 3 match ban.
Want us to win (obvs) but the bigger hope is for us to get through without any hiccups.

But yes that point about ‘rhythm’ is very true. As long as we play in our usual co-ordinated style I’ll be happy

Why do people imagine that the squad are low on confidence. They work with Carrick every day and they may be totally on board with the tactic of not showing our hand until the playoffs, and be raring to go.

yeah it is all very weird atm like pre-season where it is all about the performance normally but additionally it also about not picking up any injuries or risking any players with knocks be glad when it is over and we re back to proper football with the intensity, think we have an advantage where teams fighting for the players will be stressed and just happy to of made the play offs to some degree whereas we are totally focused on winning them starting on sunday

The game is more important to Coventry than us. Whatever happens I just hope that we don’t get on the wrong end of a really poor refereeing decision in the actual semifinals.

The reality is we can’t win the play offs today but we could lose them if we lose key personnel.

Is my point.
That’s the main point. A win would be nice today. But I wouldn’t be risking any players. Bamford hobbling around at Wembley is something I don’t want for Archer, Akpom, McGree etc.

I partly agree with Jedi that we can't lose the playoffs today but we can lose key players. It's a hard shout today to know what is best and it be interesting to see the team selection is, but I do feel we need to win or at least put in a very good performance even if it is a draw and also another reason I don't want to lean to Jedi's way of seeing it today is because I feel from reading his previous posts he is more than a little bit concerned about Sunderland getting into the playoffs, which, so wants to give Cov a result which I think to worry about them is the best way to lose the playoffs all together, if we don't play to our potential in the upcoming matches. We need to play our best today, or try to anyway and if we get Sunderland in the playoffs then that's okI feel we can win, and actually I rather meet them over two legs than Coventry.

Exactly this, as let’s face we’ve known we were in play offs at least for a few weeks now of course that going to impact your intensity.

Luton showed carrick doesn’t play yo the crowd he’ll pick the side he wants.

Btw we could be playing cov again so why show your hand.

Only time will tell, but if we go into the playoffs on the back of 3 defeats and can't turn it back on then we'll have all summer to reflect on that.
For me you have to take the opportunity when it presents itself so I say we play our best available side today and hopefully go into the playoffs on the back of a good win.

We learned v Leicester that you don’t give away your main game plan. Look at the Luton game. That’s a manager
