Today's deals

Desperately need a CF.

Jones and Forss can battle it out for RM, but with Coburn clearly not being fully fit and Lath out for ???.......love to see a repeat of 1998 when Branca, Armstrong and Ricard were brought in (obviously not them as they are too old......).

I'd be semi happy with Goodrham in as second choice RW with Jones, and pushing Forss up to being our main striker for the rest of the season.
Perhaps that’s the best we can hope for as 9 hours is going to be a bit of a rush to do a deal.

Just thought, do you think footy medical prices go up today, like substantially? You know as consumers we get stuffed with high demand prices, like hotels say going to Paris for the Olympics , we are usually asked to pay 5 times what it normally is. There was a program the other night about it all. Applies to anything and everything though. If you go to a music show in a farmers field in summer , they be asking 5 quid a can of coke. Imagine these private meds places then, tonight could charge 500k for someone they know will likely be higher than a 20m transfer :) Which club is going to say, too expensive ?

The medicals are done in house by our own staff - who are probably salaried.

I wasn't really referring to us. On deadline day loads of times I've heard player x is having a medical in a local private place near to his club so he doesn't have to travel to the interested party club at that point of the day

In those circumstances they'd have the medical at the selling club - and they'd put a clause in the deal to make sure it was done right. Ben Foster has a podcast answering a similar question.

Concerned not a peep about a striker so far. If we dont sign one our outside chance of the playoffs will be long gone

Just another way for them to get around FFP I think -- It's a 5m loan fee with an obligation to buy in the summer, so they'll probably knock the 5m off the summer price.

Forss up front on his own is not the answer for me. As much as I like him, he's not the ideal candidate to hold the ball up while others get up to him. As a finisher he's brilliant, but playing him as a focal point of the attack won't do him any favours. I think Carrick is of the same opinion and he knows wher Forss is strongest.

I suspect that the small number of footballers moving, compared to the number of doctors able to take a medical at short notice doesn't move the needle too much. They probably have to pay a premium for an urgent one though!
