Currently unattached and training with Bristol Rovers to my knowledge. Played a worldy for Everton vs Man City not too long ago and was captain at 20. Has quite a few England U21 caps to his name and still only 25. Is he the high energy CM that might give us some bite? Could be worth a try?

Not sure Middlesbrough is fashionable enough for him.
It was reported 4 days ago that Cardiff were interested but couldn’t afford him. So not sure if he wouldn’t consider us with the right package. I wonder how much he is looking for?

I was told he was at Hurworth earlier in the summer for some medical tests (reliable source) obviously I don't know what the outcome of those tests were. Probably absolutely fine. He may just have wanted too much?

He seems to have been rumoured / linked with pretty much every Championship side over the course of the summer. Not sure what is going on, but I assume that he is not short of offers. Whether those offers meet his demands we don't know, but any I guess most agents in that situation would be taking their time to maximise the money.

bullet dodged if you ask me. He'll want big wages, a 3 or 4 year contract, and isn't going to improve much from being a bog standard bottom 6 prem squad player

The gap between Premier wages and Championship is such a massive gulf. Will even squad players take such a step down?
Certainly there is a gulf, say wages are three times higher at somewhere like Palace to Boro. The PL clubs have to subsidise the wages in loan moves, unless its a teenager type player. We would have only paid part of Archer's wages last season.

There are some PL owned players who are not registered for PL. These players know their contract will unlikely be renewed or they have no PL experience. Patrick Bamford was a Chelsea player who effectively dropped down to play with us and Leeds, but there are not hundreds of examples. More common is picking up players like Djed Spence who was at Fulham who had never played in their first team or close to it.

From decent player in a poor Everton side to decent player in poor Blades side.

He's probably at the top end of what we could afford (as evidenced by his EPL move). I think we could probably spend less overseas and match his ability.

he is a bit of a 'dandy'

for my tuppence in the ring - he is a good player and to re-set his career he needs to be a big fish in a small pond - sheff utd wont be his salvation - Middlesbrough FC working with MC would have been.
Looks like a 1960's tramp, the scruffy get.

And trying his mam's clothes on in the top one.
