Do we think last night makes the top ten games ever at the Riverside?

1) Steau Bucharest 2006 ✅
2) Liverpool (League Cup Semi) 1998 ❌
3) Brighton 2016 ✅
4) Brentford (play offs) 2015 ❌
5) Spurs (FA Cup) 2022 ❌
6) Basle 2006 ✅
7) Chelsea (last night) 2024 ❌
8) Oxford (promotion game) 1998 ❌
9) Man Utd 4-1 Prem win 2005 (had to look up the year for this one, even though I was there) ✅
10) Chelsea (first ever game) 95 ✅

I've missed off;
- Liverpool - Ravenelli's hat trick debut 1996 ❌
- Leeds - Juninho debut 1995 ✅
- Newcastle - 3-1 League Cup win 1996 ❌

Have I missed anything obvious?

(Edited to mark the games I attended, just to delay doing any work for another five minutes).

I remember the Charlton cup game was a corker too, in which Viduka was amazing, but not as important as the ones you've posted.

Another I always remember fondly is the 5-3 win against Birmingham when they had Bruce as manager. It was hyped up as a banker of 0-0 because both teams had the best defensive records in the league, going into the game.

Beating Sunderland in Division 1 to ensure they slipped into the PO's and we pinched an auto spot was a fantastic game. Armstrong scored that day.

One of my personal favourites was a 3-2 win against Burnley in front of about 15000. Probably not gonna make the list though.

I can think of similar: a 3-1 win over Brum in front of about 14k. What made it special was we finished with 9 men, and were really hanging on until injury time when Tomlin broke through and scored the 3rd.

These hardcore gems are never going to make it on to the list of "special occasion matches" though.

Personally, I'd also include Boro 4 Coventry 0 in 1996.
We'd just beaten West Ham 4-1 a few days before, and I, an many others, came away from that match thinking we could do anything.

I think Banik Ostrava was fairly special too. First European match, and to be fair, their fans really added something to the occasion.

I’m going to throw the Everton Quarter Final into the mix where we were 3-0 up by half time, Everton got the whole south stand and Incey celebrated infront of them.

That was my first major hangover that. Midday kick off and had work the next day got sent home at 17

Sat next to two Everton intruders that match. They left after the third goal!
We had two sat in front if us who did the same thing. I wonder if it was the same ones. West lower.

Everyone had clocked them early on and was celebrating in their faces when the second and third went in

Looks about right. I'm not sure why I was sat there. I can't remember. They weren't my usual season ticket seats. I used to sit in the North Stand at the time.

My dad had clocked them early. They were directly in front of us. One of them had received a text message which appeared to be from a Liverpool fan winding them up. He was showing his mate and my dad had seen in and nudged me. I know he shouldn't be reading people's messages the nosey cvnt before anyone starts.
