Tories furious at ‘coronation’ and no vote

Tory members and posters on this board are all well aware how our political system works....

So stop crying over spilt milk. Pathetic !
Thanks 👍

What don't you understand.?
Well for a start your response seems to imply I’m one of the ‘ Tory members and posters on this board’ I assure you I’m not. I’m not crying over spilt milk in my OP I’m raising a legit point. The crying over spilt milk is by the bloat faced twät I refer to. What’s your problem Nobby?

It's how the political system in this country works Chris 👍
No point foaming at the mouth about it now....
Thanks 👍

No, it's how the Tory system works.

If you enjoy corruption on an industrial scale with those that are worst off paying the highest price then you're part of the problem.

You should be "foaming at the mouth" because of the Tory system enforced upon us by those at the top.

Well the article mentions the wave of Tory members who are defecting to the Reform Party or UKIP as they were known. All that tells me is that the Tory Party was infiltrated with thousands of UKIPers. Now they haven’t been able to push ahead with their racist agenda through the Tories they have left the party for more extreme representation. Had Johnson remained they would have stayed.

It's not how "our political system" works though, is it? It's not even how the Conservative Party normally chooses their leader. The 1922 Committee literally made up a new set of rules for this specific leadership contest.

Normally, the Conservative Party membership gets to vote on the new leader.

That didn't happen here, which is what a bunch of them seem to be upset about.

Theresa May was elected in a similar manner, as was Gordon Brown.
I think the Sunak ‘appointment‘ is different in that just a very short time ago the Tory membership chose somebody else when Sunak was offered to them. Effectively he lost the Tory leadership election and now, because they are desperate to calm the financial markets and Liz Truss has resigned, he has by default become prime minister.

Whichever way you look at it he has become leader and PM of the U.K. with the backing of 150 Tory mp’s.

Truss was elected 58:42 so there were plenty of sunak backers, think truss and her followers were naive to believe they could do what they wanted with the economy and they have been shown that the world has moved on and financial matters are global. Truss is a fool so no shock there however Kwartang is meant to be one of the big brains in the Party, think he is the big loser in all of this as his credibility is shot. Truss was and is a joke, if the Queen hadn’t died she wouldn’t have lasted the month out.

Fair comment but I think deep down the Tory members wanted Johnson back, I think Sunak has limited backing from within the party.

And what about the other 65,000,000 of us, do we not get a say either, or with the previous PM, or with BJ when he first became PM, or Theresa May when she first came to be PM, or am I being fussy.
Yes! You had your say when you voted the Tories in in 2019 and have another two years to repent at leisure.

Theresa May was elected in a similar manner, as was Gordon Brown.

Leadsom pulled out when down to the final 2 because it was already clear that May would win and didn't want to be picked apart for weeks for no gain. It wasn't planned.

Brown taking over from Blair was already known going into the 2005 General Election.

Even Truss becoming PM was at least, based on a pre ordained set of rules. Sunak was just a farce from start to finish and absolutely has zero mandate, something that many Tory MP's established by stating only Boris Johnson would have a mandate.
