Transpennine Express

The last train north out of York was cancelled on Saturday night. They paid for everyone’s taxi home. Maybe 15-20 separate taxis needed in total. And everyone gets 100% of the fare refunded. Not fit for purpose.

I was in Manchester last week, and the staff there don't even bother with the "Short notice change" Lie anymore. Cancelled, shortage of Crew.
it was anyone for the Saltburn train get on the Newcastle Train and change at Darlington.
That is if the Newcastle Train made it beyond York, that is!
Must be a lack of willing volunteers for overtime, and who can blame them?

Never fail to disappoint, train out of Leeds cancelled again, an hour wait til the next one, with obviously no seat reservation now, and the next one will be rammed, Spoons it is….
Whichway are you going. It will be rammed if going towards Manchester but if coming back to Boro it will be fine after York.

Oof, don't go to spoons. Miles better pubs literally 1-2 mins walk away.

But yeah, the trains are *****.

Back to Boro and yes not too full to be honest but getting back an hour later than anticipated today….😡
For Leeds to Middlesbrough, National Express coaches are cheaper, more reliable, more comfortable and not overcrowded. Probably comparable on time too, as the coaches don't stop until Boro

It's a game of Russian roulette every time I go on the transpennine. I reckon 50% of my journeys have turned into a **** show 😁
It's a shame because having it running all the way to Saltburn now should be a really good thing.

im amazed they havent handed the franchise back yet... they must be losing money hand over fist
It's now a group of consultants, appointed by the Government, with the name "Transpennine Holdings". Only thing that has changed is the Managing Director so far.
They've improved on my local line, get the odd cancellation but not as bad as the Manc - York carnage.

I'd say that was pretty good. The problem was the weather and rolling stock location as a result. Noone lost out, everyone got home in comfort for free. For once they seem to have got everything spot on there.

Must of missed this.

How many franchises are state controlled now? Must be a fair few
