ULTIMATE BORO FAN POLL - ABOUT DERBY SITUATION

Do we as Middlesbrough Fans believe Derby should be liquated?

  • Yes, they Cheated

    Votes: 78 44.1%
  • No, I don't want Boro potentially liquating another club

    Votes: 99 55.9%

A few things going round my head:

- Derby have already been punished. We may think they deserved more punishment, like relegation, but that is not up to us. Fact is they have had their punishment.

- The reason Derby fans blame us is that they have been told a buyer would have come in for them if it were not for the Boro and Wycome claims hanging over the club. I dont know if this is true or not but on the balance of the reports it does seem likely. In this case you can understand Derby fans blaming us as without our claim they would be saved.

- The administrators say the sale of players would not cover the debt. Could be all talk I dont know.

- Everyone knows the reason they are in this mess is their previous chairman but the reason they cannot get out of it is Boro and Wycombes claims

- Boro's claim is vague to say the least and based on what 'might have been' and from my understanding somethign that would be difficult to prosecute under law

- Of course saying all this none of us know what is actually going on behind the scenes and what has gone on in the past but

- There is every chance this is going to blow up to the point where Gibson, so often lauded as a great chairman, will be hated across football

I really think Gibson should step back now and withdraw his claim. We cant be the reason another club goes out of business and I am sure Gibson does not want that but it could well happen if we keep on with this.

If we drop our case we should do it no earlier than deadline day, all I see is them staying up and debt free, they'll be rewarded and in a great position for promotion next season while others balance their books.

I think the admins are gambling, I'm sure players sales would help but they want to keep them just in case.

Ref point deduction - this is only a fair punishment when it happens in the season of when the financial offences occurred - punishing a team in 2021/22 is not relevant to 2018/19 season. Its like punishing Boro in 1998/9 for not turning up at Blackburn 1996/7.

"...when the financial offences occurred" or came to light, delayed submission of accounts can and has prevented punishment taking place in the season the offence took place.

They broke the rules and got found out. You can't, however, say what course history would take if they hadn't cheated. They might even have done better, who knows.
The punishment is unsatisfactory though. Giving them a way out can't be right.

Apparently the £40m is a figure that has been put in to the public domain, emanating from someone connected to the administrators.

The administrators appear to operate in a similar way to Mel Morris - manipulate, deceit, delay.

When other clubs have gone into administration, things have moved relatively quickly compared to the Derby debacle - assets sold, staff cuts, wage adjustments or significant playing staff transfers.

Pearce (Morris's man) is still in the club. I'm convinced he's working the administrators on Morris's behalf to retain as much of his personal wealth as possible (e.g. the stadium), ignoring MFC/WW claims and other creditors and to effectively take DCFC and its fans as hostages as a means to effectively blackmail the other parties (including the EFL) to chicken out. Proper brinksmanship.

I thought companies in administration weren't allowed to increase their debt. Are Derby actually paying their staff or is it being held over until they are saved?

I couldn't care less about Derby and their fans - if Boro liquidated them in the process of getting legal financial redress for their cheating so be it.

I honestly wish we weren't doing this, I am totally behind Gibson, but we will become the poriahs of football, our fans will be abused and attacked all over the country, we will become the team everyone wants to beat, and we will be treated unfairly in the future because of it.

they want to pay the tax man 20p in the pound, which means UK tax payers are having to cover the losses for them, while they ignore the basic principles of going in to administration

the only people that will think that are the ignorant ones. Derby are the ones stopping the full facts being released

As a commercial enterprise with a claim against Derby we'd be mad to drop it, providing we feel there's a strong chance of success.

I'm afraid emotions go out the window in this instance. These are businesses and are being run as such - through the good and the bad.

They owe us money , if we win our case, but Derby have no money , only players as assets , why not choose some of their younger players as payment to us , with an agreed sum , then let the said players stay there for the rest of the season , and come to us ready for next season .
We get young promising proven players
We settle our differences with Derby
We assist Derby by loaning back the players
We get out of the argument allowing a buyer to come in and save them .
Ie
Derby , Boro , and said players all agree that the said player will join Boro at the end of the season

SG is claiming an amount from them ( £45m been mentioned by some tabloids ) which is a highly unlikely amount, maybe less than a 3rd of that would suffice
If we win the case , which is likely , Derby will have to pay us an agreed amount set by the people who make the decision, but they have no cash, only assets in players , so I am suggesting we take some of their players as our payment.
This can be agreed by all parties to end our involvement in the case.
Derby / Boro / Players Sign to say ,they will come to us July. Who would I like ?
Festy Ebosele estimated value £1m ( Jones competition ) age 19
Lee Buchanan estimated value £2m ( Bola competition) age 20
Max Bird estimated Value £3m ( Howson competition ) age 21
Louie Sibley estimated value £2m ( Crooks competition ) age 20
Jason Knight estimated value £5m ( Tav / Mcgree competition ) age 20
Total value £13m - or with
Tom Lawrence estimated value £7m ( LW starter ) age 28
Total £20m
Agreement to join Boro next season as a settlement of our claim . Valuations to be made by agreement ( Shinnie went for £30k so my valuations could be high )
Tom Lawrence wages an issue at £27k pw and he Is 28 year old, so maybe not?
Outcome
Derby future secure and they keep the team together for now .
Players futures secure knowing they are coming to a progressive club.
Boro summer transfer building mostly done with young, experienced , talented players who know each other , which helps the settling in.( And low salaries )
