Ultimately theres nothing you or the club can do, unless some law comes in about fans chanting stuff like this, and then its impossible to police by determining what people consider offensive.
YupI agree with the sentiment but if we make a big deal of it you can bet more clubs sing it.
This is the most sensible rational post on the entire thread. Well done, sirUltimately theres nothing you or the club can do, unless some law comes in about fans chanting stuff like this, and then its impossible to police by determining what people consider offensive.
Both sets of supporters are as bad as each other, our supporters are as equally as disgusting
If that’s the case do we ban our own fans from the ground too? because I’ve heard just as bad from our own supporters this seasonI’d say the only way to deal with it is a complete ban of them from the stadium, because they sure as hell aren’t going to change
Really worse than that filth todayjust as bad
If you just let it happen, it normalizes it and makes it acceptable behaviourI agree with the sentiment but if we make a big deal of it you can bet more clubs sing it.
Yes, it's safety in numbers. I'm afraid. Probably the best way to stop it is to go on message boards like this and challenge them. All will say they don't do it, of course. Bit by bit, it will become a minority pastime.Ultimately theres nothing you or the club can do, unless some law comes in about fans chanting stuff like this, and then its impossible to police by determining what people consider offensive.
We start “policing” ourselves, so we don't need someone else to do it for us.If that’s the case do we ban our own fans from the ground too? because I’ve heard just as bad from our own supporters this season
No because that’s a relatively small minority, although i suggest a few ejections for any caught would be a good idea - with the mackems it’s literally the whole lot of themIf that’s the case do we ban our own fans from the ground too? because I’ve heard just as bad from our own supporters this season
Homophobic chanting the other week, usual Johnson chants today, still the odd idiot shouting racial abuse. I’m not going to argue what’s worse because it’s all vile, but if you’re wanting large numbers of away fans banned from the ground, that also means thousands of Boro fans should also be bannedReally worse than that filth today
Thousands singing the homophobic chants against Chelsea the other week, it was far more than a small minority. Same when the Saville/Johnson chants startNo because that’s a relatively small minority, although i suggest a few ejections for any caught would be a good idea - with the mackems it’s literally the whole lot of them
Thats it, its a whole culture change thats needed.Homophobic chanting the other week, usual Johnson chants today, still the odd idiot shouting racial abuse. I’m not going to argue what’s worse because it’s all vile, but if you’re wanting large numbers of away fans banned from the ground, that also means thousands of Boro fans should also be banned
It probably needs a sense of proportion.Homophobic chanting the other week, usual Johnson chants today, still the odd idiot shouting racial abuse. I’m not going to argue what’s worse because it’s all vile, but if you’re wanting large numbers of away fans banned from the ground, that also means thousands of Boro fans should also be banned
Easier said than done.We start “policing” ourselves, so we don't need someone else to do it for us.
It's far more subtle and effective as a mechanism....
No he doesn’t it vile and it needs stopping
