Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

What we've been offered, in the current market.
Alex Scott went for £25 million to a much smaller club than Villa. They spent that much mainly because of potential, whether Rogers has similar potential to Scott I'm don't actually know, but it does give you an idea of what players in Rogers position can go for.
You mean the same Alex Scott who had 83 Championship appearances by the time he was 20 and won EFL Young Player of the Year?

So two years younger than Rogers and playing at a much higher level?

I would counter your initial post with why do the vast majority of our fans think that Boro are in a position to demand transfer fees for twice their actual worth?
Because they're our players, and have 3+ years left on their contracts. Which is a position of power. And the players value is whatever the selling club decides their value is to that club. Typically a club coming in to buy a player don't get to say "we think he's valued at this price so you'll accept it and like it, cheers".

If he was to go to Villa (and I don't believe that he will) he would be back to the same situation he just escaped at Man City, for that reason I wouldn't expect him to agitate for a move and if we do sell him we can sell at our price and not what Villa fancy paying.

You're buying a Ferrari son, that's how much they cost and no, we're not interested in that Renault you came in.

Can't believe some of the comments on this thread about Rogers.

If he was at another championship club and we were looking at signing him, people would look at his stats and highlight reel and be buzzing with idea of him joining.

Instead because he's our players he's lucky to be even starting games and wouldn't be playing if it were for injuries. got to laugh.

Be gutted if he goes but if does hopefully we get a good deal and reinvest well.

Hey LL hasn't done bad either, considering game time and the amount of chances he has missed, he could become a real threat too!

Rogers has done superb and in some instances has under performed on occasions which is expected of younger attacking players but good returns.

Look at Josh I know the stats on goals and assists won't reflect but he is vital to our game when he plays, on goals he hasn't actually missed to many chances to be honest and if I was to critique him it would be he needs to find that niche of being in the right place at the right time in and around the six yard box like a Billy sharp or Rhodes at his best.

Would they?

Would you look at 4 goals in 59 Championship games and be buzzing?

We've just signed Azaz who's scored 7 goals in 27 games from the same position.

For £2million!!!

2 goals, 5 assists, 1211 minutes played.

7 goals, 5 assists, 1770 minutes played.

Both young players of a similar age at the same league level. The first stats are from a team with a chance of the play offs. The second from a team towards the bottom of the table.

Who would you sign and how much do you think they're worth?

I would definitely pay £15million for the top one

Yeah I seen £4.5m then £6.5m but all hearsay. No official source.
It's a long way from £15m anyway :ROFLMAO:
Are you under the impression that anyone thinks we are expecting to get £15m this window? Those of us, including the club, that say we wouldn't sell for less are saying that because we want to keep the player. So if Villa want him, they have to pay silly money. If they're not prepared to do that, Rogers stays, which is the preferred outcome as our chances of promotion are better with him than without him.

Eh? How was playing at a much higher level? He was playing at exactly the same level. The Championship.
He's also only year younger than him.

£10mwould be an absolute steal for Rogers.. we've heard all this before with players. £15m is the price and he's 100% worth it.

pfft feels like we could really do something this season.. I honestly think that promotion is a possibility. I guess this is the reality tho.. astute signings that big clubs want.

Would anybody complain at a deal such as £10m + loan back to us for the rest of the season?

There's some quality players further down the league we could potentially use the money on like Chair from QPR.
