Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

The magority of Rogers stats are from lower league opponents in the league cup. He still has alot of development to do and has only really been starting due to our injury crisis. He has alot of promise same as Sammy Silvera but they need to be well coached, trained and get playing time to develop for the level Villa are. Going to Villa is like running before you can walk

I think that's a bit of a myth. In the last 6-8 weeks he's been excellent against several top half Championship teams, and has goals and assists in many of those games. Then there's games like the Coventry one where he didn't get a goal or create one, but was absolutely on fire, especially in the first half.

Comparing Rogers to Silvera is like comparing Fillet steak to a slice of liver.

He's not playing like Tavernier was for us on a consistent basis yet is all I'm saying. He does lose the ball alot think it was against Hull he came on as a sub and I watched him lose the ball every time he touched it and we threw away the win.

Can't understand why you would choose liver here when imagining him ? when a bit of Silverside would be perfectly more sound and reasonable. Plus it would be comparing like for like , beef for beef, as your chosen organ gives no indication of source of which animal. I mean pigs liver and lambs liver much more frequent choice than beef liver. Therefore I am wholly dismayed at your comparative judgements.

Rogers has far more potential than Silvera.

I don't agree he's only started due to injuries, He was bought to play in the 1st team and has been played because Carrick thinks he's good enough and even when we have players fit he's still being selected.

Funny how a few weeks ago everyone was hoping he wasn't suspended for the 1st leg against Chelsea, despite not being good enough to start for us 🤔

It's not a myth though, or at least it wasn't before his assist against Millwall drew him level in terms of contributions.

He has 2 goals and 5 assists in the league in 25 appearances, 4 goals and 3 assists in the cup in 5 appearances and all 7 were against League One and Two opposition.

He's growing in importance, but it's only recently that he's started to show a bit of real form in the league.

The all competitions stat is doing a lot of heavy lifting right now.

He was played out of position in that first run of first team starts.....and despite our poor form, he create quite a few clear cut chances that others missed. He should really have had 3 assists in the first 4 league games.

His all round game has gotten more consistent since those early games, so he has improved. Helped by playing in his preferred (at the moment) roles of 10 and LW.

I can only see him getting better and better over the next 18 months if stays with us and will be a real saleable asset at that point

I think it's obvious that Villa see a very young but largely unproven English player who has the attributes to become much much better player by the time he reaches his ceiling.

His raw talent and physical attributes have been obvious from the moment he arrived I think, but even after such a short space of time he's beginning to show glimpses of that, which is backed up by his stats.

I guess they're looking to take a gamble now, hoping it will save them millions.

Now hollllld on there cowboy. So let's get this straight so it's not a myth that most of his goal contributions weren't against lower league opposition even though he has as many in the Championship as he does in the EFL cup?
How the feck does that work? I got an F in maths at school but even I know 50% isn't most!

Also when I mean stats I didn't just mean goals/assists but also the many chances he's created, more than anyone in our team. Which is why I mentioned the Coventry game.

That's why I said before the Millwall match, when it was that 58% of his goal contributions came in the cups against lower league opposition.

It only stopped being true 6 days ago, it wasn't a myth.

How does that work!😂
It's not true because it wasn't true previously... even though it's true now.
Can Millwall say they beat us 1-0 because they were beating us? At one point. Before we scored 3 goals.
So, how's about it wasn't a myth. But now it is.
