Virgin Media broadband service....Down

Looked at the service status via a mobile hotspot and seems like there is a big outage all over the country

It was strange earlier. It was like only 50% of the internet was accessible. TS22. I’m back on here now so maybe fixed

Yeah, same here. Some websites were loading but a lot of others weren’t. I’m on the waiting list for City Fibre / You Fibre as not hit TS5 yet.

Seems to be fine now at least.

I work from home (go into the office 2-3 times a month) but have had to go into the office a few more times recently. When logging on at work, you have to log on via a secure network (VPN).

For some reason, there’s an issue every now and then with Virgin users. Something to do with their systems and it not liking VPN’s. So my BB works, but I get next to no bandwidth on my works laptop on the VPN. Virgin just wash their hands of it but when it happens it affects around 25% of our staff - all Virgin users!

I’m done with them after 15 years. Just need a viable alternative!

If anyone's in a youfibre area and wants 2 months free in top of the 3 months free you get as standard drop me a PM

If you're in contract with virgin and haven't used the price rises to get out, they'll also buy you out of the contract but the free months work differently with that option. Happy to talk anyone through it. Class isp - 1 gb up/1gb down for £29.99 a month - 24 month deal with no price rises in-contract

If you factor in the 5 months free, comes to equivalent of £23 a month for 1gb upload / download which is a mega deal. We were paying more than that for 76mb down / 20mb up!

to see where their build is up to (click fttp isp button and select netomnia). They're in most of Ingleby, thornaby, Norton, Darlington and Billingham so far

If you're stuck with Virgin, call them to cancel. My existing offer was due to end next month, doubling the cost. I called and told them to cancel it when it ends. I ended up with another 18 month contract at £3 more.

I've tried a few times to call virgin and cancel but every time they say they are connecting me to the cancellation team the line disconnects.

I cancelled too and they said they couldn’t match my deal with youfibre..

I carried on with the youfibre connection and they then offered me my contract for what youfibre will eventually charge me… but with the 7 months I’ve got at £1 it still didn’t match so I’ve finished with them, just as this outage shows I’ve made the right decision..,

Persevere with your cancellation…
