Waterlogged pitch?

In South Yorkshire at the moment and it's teeming down and blowing a hoolie. What's it like in Boro over the next 24 hours and is there a risk of the game getting called off?

Rain is pretty heavy and is planned all day but drainage at the Riverside has always been good so would be surprised if it was abandoned for waterlogged pitch.

Found it!

Middlesbrough’s Head Groundsman Tony Bell stated:

‘Matchsaver supplied us with a full set of Air Roller Covers for our Riverside Stadium Pitch at short notice, due to severe flood warnings. We are very pleased with the covers that have ensured all our fixtures went ahead, despite encountering the wettest February on record.

Can’t remember many games being postponed at the riverside? Maybe for snow making roads and walkways to the ground unsafe but nothing pitch related? May be wrong but we seem, as we did at Ayresome Park, to have top grounds people looking after the pitch.

Yes. I am a weather man.

Originally known as the Weathermen, the group was organized as a faction of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) national leadership.[3] Officially known as the Weather Underground Organization (WUO) beginning in 1970, the group's express political goal was to create a revolutionary party to overthrow the United States government, which WUO believed to be imperialist.

The FBI described the WUO as a domestic terrorist group,[4] with revolutionary positions characterized by Black Power and opposition to the Vietnam War.[3] The WUO took part in domestic attacks such as the jailbreak of Timothy Leary in 1970.[5][6] The "Days of Rage" was the WUO's first riot in October 1969 in Chicago, timed to coincide with the trial of the Chicago Seven. In 1970, the group issued a "Declaration of a State of War" against the United States government under the name "Weather Underground Organization".[7]

“Forgot” to cover the pitch against Coventry once during a cold spell. Just happened to be during an injury crisis. Seem to remember Ricard was injured but then fit again for the rearranged game and scored!

seem to remember something similar with the Geordies very annoyed that a game was called off as he "approach to the stadium" was unsafe during a cold snap - Just happened to coincide with a big injury crisis if i recall.

We had this recently and when supporters arrived in the stands they were 'watering' the pitch!
Yes, that was the home match v Millwall game on August 5th, the terrible summer weather when the kids were off. People were thinking the match might be called off but they did actually water it before kickoff. Maybe they should have called it off as we lost 1.0!

As you are in South Yorkshire, any news on whether the Rotherham v Ipswich game be on tonight?
