Well done British Gas!

Funny the supermarket chains who said they were doing everything to help us through the cost of living crisis all announced record profits in the last year too. Go figure.

The profits they'll be handing out are similar to the teacher pay settlement.

So that means there's a risk of pushing inflation higher, surely?

Thing is the regulator sets the price cap so they are to blame. The current level includes a premium that allows suppliers to recoup some of last year's losses in order to prevent a potential new wave of supplier failures.

I dont see British Gas handing out tenners to the poorest energy users.
Dont blame regulators.
We`re being ripped off.
Nationalise all the private utilities.

This news is ****, but those images are wrong

French govt originally limited its bill rises to 4% which just meant the government paid the tens of billions of losses (where do they get their money again? People will pay one way or another. Think there's been some sort of riots taking place there over the last 6 months about worsening conditions....)

The bill shield was 4% Feb to Jan, then it was upped for 15% to July and now upped 10%, this cap is due to expire in 2024 and so far cost then 110bn euros on top of the losses a caused by EDD's ongoing nuclear issues

They've still done well to protect people gradually but I see people sharing this 4% nonsense all the time

"according to the government, with electricity prices customers of EDF’s regulated electricity tariffs having risen by an average of 31% since the end of 2021."

Meanwhile our bills are forecast to go down, how old are those images?

You might find the following useful - bearing in mind that profits have soured since these figures were published:

EDF:

This is a contemporaneous set of figures.
Published 27th July 2023:

Who owns the major energy and water suppliers, and how much profit do they make?

What's that got to do with EDF putting prices up in France 30% and rising when your image said 4%?

I know all about who owns what in the uk, I don't need links with symbols, word counts, video play lengths etc 😂

EDF France lost 17bn euros reported in feb, that 1.12bn profit will just mean the French tax payer picks up a little less of the bill.

You might find my first words of my post useful [TxT] <source:Thatfragranceguy> (FMTTM) Reading time {0:03} >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
