Well done referee

He was garbage. Worst referee I have seen in ages. But the winner wasn’t offside.

I know I'm clutching but I hate the not interfering offside thing. Friend obviously had a powder-puff weak as pI55 attempt at the clearing header, but he could have been influenced in his positioning by the eventual goal scorer being stood offside behind him.

Not really about this situation, just in general. Fair enough if someone is walking back from offside or down injured or something, but if you are involved in an attacking move the defence have to react to your positioning, the keeper has to look at you etc. so you are having an influence on the game, even if you don't play the ball or attempt to at the time.

There's another Boro player playing the scorer onside.

Tbf i like that rule. Their would be so many great goals rules out for players stood in offside positions because of it. I think this is a rule that must stay. If they brought that rule in then people would get sick of it like they rightly do with the new handball rule where VAR intervenes. I would keep the non interfering rule. The referee was horrendous but I have no qualms about the winner. But our Tav goal should of stood and another referee would of sent of their player for the penalty incident. And other refs wouldn’t of give a foul every time a player got tickled.

It was scored by a player who should have been sent off. I think the scorer was offside earlier in the build up, so it would depend on that "phases of play" shiit

Exactly, that's the bit I hate. I know it has been the rule for a while and it was awful defending, but Wing (I think?) & Friend both went for the same header and missed it, then Johnson is left marking three of their players (and playing them all on).

A pathetic referee, but then I've been a Boro fan for long enough to expect these things and we still should have been good enough not to lose that game.

When the stream paused as Hull player took free kick Wilks was offside. This was shown several times without any observation from commentators. Does that count as offside or note?

No. It’s not offside as he wasn’t involved at the time. This has been the rule for some time. It wasn’t offside.

It has Block, but I'll never agree with it (unless we score the winner that keeps us up like that ;)). I can't get passed that when the ball is played in to begin the attacking move that leads to the goal, the guy who scores it is offside, phases of play be dammed:mad:.

I agree in the main, if they aren't involved, or like I said walking back or laid injured etc. they shouldn't be flagged. But if they score the goal they are involved in the phase of play for me.

All about opinions mate but I must say it’s a rule I don’t have a problem with. If they changed that and keep the handball rule as it is we will barely see any goals any more, and we don’t score many as it is! The handball is the one that needs changing for next season and after the farce in the premier league this season i am sure it will be.
