Well that's it for the English Leagues...

Will it include Newcastle this time around, Chelsea don't look that super sitting half way down the league table.
I was thinking about Newcastle and how it would affect them. Would the Saudi's have any interest in Newcastle if they are playing the peasants in whatever remains of the Premier League, or will they be cast aside and potentially left with unsustainable costs. There's other clubs in the same boat of course

The Saudi takeover of the skunks was motivated by generating good PR for that middle-eastern regime, via sportswashing. The Saudi's don't need that club to generate money for it. My guess would be they'd be happy to see Newcastle stay in the English league because its doing what it was bought for, the UK media love-in and fawning over everything newcastle at the moment, and by proxy, the Saudi regime..

As for the super league, I'd be delighted if the big 6/7 went - Provided they were never allowed back and don't get to play in our domestic leagues or cups on the side. The remaining EPL can then reassert itself and put in rules that aren't governed by those 6/7 who left, instead the new EPL can implement a proper FFP system that prevents another big 6 or 7 emerging from the clubs that are left, hopefully making the EPL a more level playing ground for those competing in it.

I don't know if they can be kicked from domestic competitions, but there' surely nothing to stop 72 EFL clubs and 12-14 PL clubs breaking away from the PL/EFL structure and forming a new domestic structure without ESL clubs?

Should ESL clubs want to return to the domestic structure, fine, but they'd have to start at the bottom of the pyramid.

If this stupid new league (if it actually happens) plans to give free to air coverage forever, then where does that leave all the other "lesser" competitions etc? There are more questions than answers.

Part of me wants to say screw them - take their shiny new competition and shove up their arrse. But there will inevitably be repercussions all the way through the football pyramid, - be it financial or related to broadcasting rights etc. No doubt lots of people and clubs will be intending to get very very very rich out of this.

FIFA/UEFA will see the $$$$$ and accommodate whatever is proposed.

Remember, these teams are not setting up a breakaway league, but having their own invitation only mini tournament during the season.

So wouldn't be surprised to see the CL pretty much sacked off to be a tin pot cup, and the European Super League takes over. Possibly shut the PL down in December or January, introduce a mid season break to accommodate. Ticks a lot of boxes.

Tournament held in Saudi, or Qatar, somewhere warm with obscene $$$$$ to showcase it.

Top clubs get even more stinking rich, then there will be the super rich PL clubs, then the "fighting for scraps" clubs like Boro.

F*ck everyone involved in this. Just a mirror of society where those at the top can become even more wealthy and the rest have to look on desperately looking for crumbs to drop their way.

I heard that the new super league will be free to watch. That may impact the Sky deal and take away money from the Premier League.

I won't bother watching it, just like I don't normally bother watching the the Premier League now.

Imagine Liverpool V Man Utd once a month. After that awful game on Sunday, I'm not sure how they would market it. Fans and sponsors will soon get bored of the same 12 teams playing each other. The only people watching will be tourists. Bit like watching the Harlem Globetrotters.
Can’t remember the last time I watched a premier league game.

English clubs would now be debarred from playing in the Premier. Surely they are unlikely to jump.
These clubs would return and form their own league at which point other teams would jump in and join then thus the abolishment of the Premier League. The clubs hold the power make no mistake.

Would you even really notice with teams coming up from the Championship to take their place?

Liverpool - Middlesbrough
Chelsea - Millwall
Arsenal - Watford
Spurs - QPR
Man Utd - Blackburn
Man City - Preston

or we could just graft a few SPL teams in there..

Liverpool - Celtic
Chelsea - Hibernian
Arsenal - Aberdeen
Spurs - Hearts
Man Utd - Rangers
Man City - Dundee

to be honest I wouldn’t even miss them.

Let them join the creepy American franchise league.. we keep the real competitions.. they only get away with it if we let them. Glory supporters taking over football? Not having it. Some sort of Harlem Globetrotters Circus. I can see it killing off the Saudi league and maybe even MLS..

No German or English teams will go into it. The fans don't want it . Tradition matters .

I hope all those "top teams" get away from our league. I'm only ever interested in watching football when it's something like brentford v palace, I hate watching garry neville commentate unfairly on utd as if they have a divine right to success. Ii can think of a good reason to hate most clubs in the prem so getting rid of to top 6 would be fine by me. My problem would be if they were allowed to play in both. I'd be fuming if baby klopp winged about playing twice a week.

It would depend how they formatted it. Would it take an American style format where the top 8 or 4 teams went into a knockout style play-off at the end?
Or would each team play each other 4 times?

With no promotion/relegation they would need to fin a way to keep it interesting for the teams not competing for the top spot. A play-off system would do that.

Clearly each team playing each other twice isn't enough games for a football season either.
It says on BBC they would be something like that, 8 teams platinum, 12 teams gold then 32 teams silver.

They'll be in the league because of the Saudis guaranteed. They get away with murder either way so no chance they'll play in the the peasants league. Bruno g's tackle in last minutes of the Chelsea game was easily a red and lucky he didn't end the Chelsea players career "I can't remember who it was". Been happening since the Saudis came in, refs won't touch them
