Wembley Hotel

Yes I get why you are going - all I am saying is you'd get the experience better in central London rather than Wembley that's all. There some fantastic areas to stay these days wider choice of accommodation, restaurants, bars, places to congregate and sing etc etc.
Agreed, the reason for the stay is footb of course, but why not enjoy one of the greatest cities in the world too, especially given Wembley is readily accessible via the underground.

Covent Garden for me. Just up the road from Trafalgar Square, the local markets and Theatre Land. Direct tube from Charing Cross to Wembley Central. (y)

Because the underground to Wembley is an utterly harrowing experience. I have done it countless times for matches, gigs, NFL. I’d say around 15 in total. Gets worse with each visit.

So you think I’ve made the right decision? Last time we were at Wembley against Norwich I just came home and never stayed In hotel

Personal view is yes. But I appreciate that I may be in the minority in my hatred of Wembley stadium.

Fair play, I've done it a few times and it isn't great, but it's worth the effort for a night or two in the city.

Used it a few times recently including for the Finalissima last week and last England game v Ukraine and ironically I think it is now better than it used to be. Wembley Parks refurbishment is much better.

Can see why it would be for some but if you spend several nights in London a month, and used to live there, as in my case, I just want to avoid all the chaos.

And not withstanding that there are other folk who have never spent much time in London but also can’t be bothered with the chaos, which I understand. For me this weekend, if we get there, is purely about 90 minutes of football. I won’t even be doing Trafalgar Square this time.

All three NE clubs seems to love doing Trafalgar Square the night before, and all 3 have awful records at Wembley in recent times, so I’d be pretty happy if no one else did it either! 😁

I believe Newcastle play Chelsea away on the same day of the play-off final. Could get interesting if some of them decide to turn up at Trafalgar Square.

Agreed, it’s improved, I got on a tube 30-40 mins after leaving the ukraine game. Got home 60 miles away within 2 hours

Think they play at Stamford Bridge on the Sunday 28th but they may well be down for the weekend. Not sure how many away tickets they get for The Bridge but it can only be 2000.

Oxford Tube to meet up with family then a quick getaway west on the Tube to Hillingdon afterwards to connect to Coach back to Oxford. Easy peasy (great parking at Hillingdon & direct link to Wembley on the tube for anyone wanting to do it in a day, very little fans take this route out of Wembley as most head back to city).
