Now then Sheriff, my other half got me one for Christmas. You can get them from Toffs on line.Wish you could still get scarves like in the photo above - ones you could actually wear as a scarf.

Wiseman_Vaughn, certainly wasErimus - wasn't this a cover of "League Review"
We did exactly this in 80s in Bradford but the car in front had a Bradford scarf so we followed him.It was an 80s 'satnav'. You used to regularly drive into a city and just follow the first car who had a scarf flying or a football shirt on.
The chances are they were lost or you hoped the Red scarf wasn't someone going to watch UTD or Liverpool
No, not really I was only 14. Me and my mate got them for one of our first away games, at Hull. Not sure even wore the coat again. Certainly never thought about the damage the helmet could have done. We realised after everyone else wore plastic safety helmets - wusses!.Were you an Ayresome Angel?

Last time I really remember it being a big thing was the Carling cup final. We went down the day before and there were hundreds of cars and minibuses travelling down covered in scarfs, small banners and traffic tape, the red and white stuff. We pulled into the first service station on the M42 and the car park was absolutely heaving with Boro supporters. The cars without any visible red and white were the small minority. A great start to the best weekend of my life, football wise obviously.Flying scarves from car windows on the way to a match? Early 90's saw us regularly making a 350 mile round trip to home games (away games were easier though!) and one way of passing the time was spotting fellow Boro fans making their way North, scarves flying on the wind - these were pre-DAB and podcast days, of course. Doesn't seem to happen any longer, which I think is a bit of a shame.
