What the h£ll are Preston doing?!?

I know a lot of people hate expected goals but it shows when teams are getting results in keeping with chances created.

Preston are completely outplaying their expected goals. They take their chances and are a little lucky with opposition missing their chances. They consistently win games that according to stats they should lose.

A bit of luck and being clinical makes a big difference in the championship.

We are the opposite.

The stats tonight were 10 chances each for Coventry and Preston. When we played at Preston it was 20-7 in our favour and we managed to lose.

They were top of the league after 7 matches.

Recently they gotten a goalscorer back, and that makes a huge difference.

I still don't think they'll make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, did we decide what it was that Coventry got right and we got wrong?

Amazing how many poor teams, or teams we are far superior to, continuously out perform us, season after season. Or so people say on here.

The mackems have the same problem according to those on the RTG forum.

We've been well outplayed and won too. Twice against Leicester to start with.

He has been injured for nearly a year with a torn ACL. Came back December 29th 2023.

Didn’t know that, think I heard it on commentary during the game.

Has always impressed when played against us but so many poor players do..,. See Nathan Blake for one

Theres a lot of football snobbery on this board plenty of teams do well playing differently to the perfect football carrick is trying in the championship . I liken us at the moment to Swansea under russell martin pretty in possession but poor at both ends

Aye the way people were going on about Luton and Coventry last year you would think they were prime John beck. Coventry gave us a lesson in playing out from the back a couple of weeks ago.

Yes I agree. I remember when Swansea came down from the PL. We couldn’t get the ball off them but they couldn’t score and we beat them. I think teams nowadays are trying to play like Barcelona years ago when they had Messi. They had all the possession but Messi made the difference. He could score or set up goals for the team. We had Chuba who made the difference to our team last year. We need to get him or somebody similar back next year if we are going to have a chance of going up. Him a Lathe could be a good combination. The main thing we need next year though is a George Boateng midfield player. (y)

They are one of the worst teams I’ve seen in years. They play really attritional football and I’ve thought they were dreadful each time we’ve played them in recent years. But good luck to them. If we don’t pinch the last spot then I’d like to see them or Coventry do it. And if it was Preston then I’d love Coventry to win the cup.
