This is undoubtedly the highlight of the series so far
Now I hope they play cricket and not Bazball, and take 360 mins to score the required 220ish runs.
The thing with the positivity...220 odd to win. Aussies know they have around 50 overs to get us out. They may well do, but 2 years that 50 would have been 80. Immediately puts pressure on them which, I think, is part of our process. To be fair to England, Bazball is a term made up by the media and hated by both Stokes and MCullum. The tactics they've tried to use in playing without fear have previously been extremely successful. From a purely winning consecutive test matches more successful than any England team in history. Even the two recent defeats could have been victories with a bit of luck and better fielding, against the best team in the world.
But all that being said, I agree with you. I hope they play sensibly whilst remaining positive tomorrow.

As you say, each test could have gone either way. It's a great series and hopefully it will still be live after tomorrow. I think it will be.

If the Aussies don't bowl us out in 50 overs or so from here, we will pass the total and win they game. They do not have 2 days to get 10 wickets.50 overs?
Two days, unless the weather turns bad.
This batting side will not creep along at 2 an over that’s for certain. Indeed we are already going at 5.4 an over In this innings.Whilst I’ve criticised and praised “Bazball” this series (at 2-0 down its hard to argue it’s “working”) I do actually think playing aggressively is the thing to do from here. Not all out attack guns blazing but with a gettable total to chase and further rain disruptions we don’t want to be creeping along at 2 an over.
That wasn’t my point though. I was replying to people saying we need to bat sensibly etc. Well obviously we shouldn’t be stupid about it but I wouldn’t want to us change our approach drastically this morning. This batting side will not creep along at 2 an over that’s for certain. We need to concentrate and not continually waft at decent balls outside the off stump.
Don't have to try to smash every ball not on the stumps for 4 or 6. Lots of gaps in the field as the Aussies will have a lot on the boundary.......and will have 3 slips min.
We can still score at 4-5 an over picking ones and twos. Smash the loose ball.
Worst thing we can do is aggressively chase and end up 50-4.
Expect to see Smith dive for a catch in the deep and a belt sander to fall out of his pocketStrap yersel in for another nail biter. We are in a very good position to win this, and keep the Ashes series alive, but how will the "win at any cost" Aussies cheat today?

AgreeChasing is something this team has undoubtedly been good at under Stokes. Since he took over they have chased seven times and won six. Two were modest targets but the other five, four successful, were in the 270s to 370s range. Even the one failure still represented the fifth highest test fourth innings score ever at the venue.
And they’ve generally done it aggressively. You put different pressures on yourself and on your opponents doing it that way. It’s not the only way to do it but it’s the way this team is good at and I would back him 100% in the view that now is not the time to change.
