Who's your money on?

The same Preston we beat 4-0?

You missed the resurgent Preston bit I mentioned. They've been on a great confidence-building run, and for the first time this season they can see they have a chance. The fact that we beat them 4-0 weeks ago means nothing. It was before our dip in form and that result isn't going to have any bearing in the play-offs when the pressure is really on. I hope Carrick isn't as naïve as you in his thinking if we end up playing them. ;)

At this stage of a season confidence and momentum shouldn't be underestimated, they have it, and ours isn't what it was.

Watford, West Brom and Norwich have each won one of their last 5 games, so would need a huge improvement in form to have any chance. In fact, Watford have no chance IMO as the max points they can get is 71 and that won't be enough. Hopefully we can put a nail in Norwich's coffin on Friday but they have a reasonable run in and a good GD so they could yet squeeze in. West Brom have a really tough run in so I don't give them much chance of getting in, but if they do they'll have taken points off the likes of Norwich, Sheff Utd and Stoke and therefore would be going into the playoffs in good form.

Preston also have a tough run in, as do Millwall. The hardest of the lot is Blackburn and they have a shocking GD going into games with Coventry, Preston, Burnley, Luton and Millwall, so I'm going to predict that they miss out and Norwich just squeeze in.

Regardless of all of the unnecessary analysis above, I genuinely think the playoff final will be Boro v Luton - a classic match up of attack v defence. A one off game can go either way, but as we found out when we came up against Norwich, a team that scores loads can have the measure of a team that relies on clean sheets. So I'll go for a 3-1 Boro win at Wembley over Luton.
Spot on this reply, I agree 👍

They were on a good run before we played them.

They were unbeaten in 7.

Their current run is 3 games.

Watford will not make the play offs, Norwich have massive defensive issues with injury's, WBA I think could be the dark horses but again 2 up at home to a very poor QPR team only to draw sums them up. Preston have won 4 out of the last 5 but I'm not worrying about them, if we came up against them they will be **** scared of Archers pace. As others have said I think this comes down to a boro v Luton play off final but who we shall see.

And I hope Carrick, the players and the rest of our supporters aren't as negative as you!

I know this probably sounds silly but i am confident as long as we dont face a Watford, West Brom or Norwich - All three have been nothing special this season but in a one off game in the play offs with those 'experienced teams' would worry me. I look at the other teams and just feel they have all over exceeded this season and believe we would just have the edge.

Of the teams in their currently, i would much rather face Luton at Wembley than over two legs in the Semi.
Ive been thinking this myself for a while. We do have a tendency to have a mad 15 mins and concede 2-3 goals and one of those teams could bury us with no way back

There was a stat on sky yesterday during the match saying we have conceded the most goals in the first 15 minutes than any other championship team, if we do get a WBA, Millwall or Luton away in the play offs away from home at packed out ground, that's where we need to hold our nerve.

From the Huddersfield game I had us finishing 5th with a play off game against Blackburn awaiting us. Luton to grab 3rd for me.
Since then the six point buffer however looks threatened especially if we don’t get something from Norwich on Friday. Preston, Millwall, Norwich in particular all breathing down our necks! Just need to get across the line and stay in the top six

I think Luton will finish 3rd. Decent run of games to end the season for them, and I don't fancy us to get anything when we play them at their place.

I think we’ve been the 2nd best team in the league for longer than any other team. But..

We haven’t made the playoffs yet and anything can happen in the playoffs.

Luton Town make the final after facing Blackburn and we play Millwall in the semis.

Might not be a bad thing.

It amost reminds me of us and Norwich the year we met in the final. We beat them home and away from memory and the away fixture was towards the end of the season - was a bit of a smash and grab. I honestly think we would beat Luton at Wembley.

Preston aint getting in the playoffs, Millwall should see to that on Saturday.
We best Norwich and we should be home and dry and they will then struggle

Back us if we dont fall for the guff that we will never win at wembley. Im sure carrick will use the next 5 games to iron out the current flaws in the team.

I'm being negative?.. you sure about that?

I did say If we play Millwall over 2 games I think we'll beat them. And I also think we'll beat Blackburn if they make it to the final.

I've seen enough of Boro this season to be optimistic but cautious. I've seen the types of teams that can hurt us, and mentioned some. Don't confuse that with being negative.

Using a predictor for the final games I had West Brom to pip Norwich and Blackburn to the last spot. Luton 3rd, Boro 4th, Millwall 5th and West Brom 6th.

Fair enough

Personally believe we beat anyone in this division over two games, other than Burnley.

I know we're the second best in the Championship.

It's the final that worries me as it's basically all about one game, no mistakes. All about application, attitude and not letting the occasion get to you.

Anyone considered the possibility of Luton pipping Sheff U for 2nd and the blades being in the lottery of the playoffs with a recent Wembley appearance behind them?

Who thought we'd give Norwich a better game in the final? We didnt show up that day and were finished at 0-2
