Why have we allowed the Right Wing

You can apply for a "Voter Authority Certificate" if you don't have a photo ID.
And I'm sure that'll be top of any single Parent's to do list. Particularly if it's for local authority elections, most people don't give a **** about them as it is.

We need more people turning out, not less. Not if you want a truly democratically elected government anyway (and that's the point obviously).

We should be making it as easy as possible to vote, not harder.

It seems to me that in 20 years time people will look back and see there has been a quite horrendous mistake made and endorsed by so many people and then the penny will drop it was for all the wrong reasons. Women and women's rights are in real peril and left of centre politics should be leaping to the defence not leading the attacks.

You've got that back to front Rob.

In twenty years time we'll look back at all the anti-trans folk now, in the same way that we currently look back at the tories section 28 legislation from the 80s.

These are the biggest joke of all! Have you seen one of them? It is an ordinary piece of A4 paper with photo (that you provided) and some details on it. I could fake one of them in about two minutes on Photoshop. Actually you could do it on your phone. Nonsense

The issue of Women's Rights is being abused by the RW over some fairly minor (but legitimate) concerns over trans in competitive sports and trans in women only spaces. They are using emotive language to instil fear of trans people.

Example; you wouldn't want your daughter sharing a changing room with a 15st rapist who "identifies" as a woman! And of course you wouldn't. But, one, how common are 15st rapists identifying as women and two, when do you actually ever share a changing room? There was a case in Scotland of such a rapist, so that's one in 60 million and he ended up in a male prison. My experience of female changing facilities is obviously non-existent but my experience of male changies is that most modern facilities give you individual changing areas often in a communal non gendered area, so when I used to take my daughter swimming we simply changed in adjacent cubicles.

Trans rights should be the concern of everyone. The RW playbook should be familiar by now; create fear and divide. Like brown people shivering in a dinghy in the English Channel, trans people are not your enemy.

There isn't much of an issue here. All of this 'feminists vs. trans people' crap is just a distraction and it isn't helpful at all. It's just more 'divide and conquer' bullsh*t. I know loads of women, who were born as women, or however you want to phrase it, and none of them give a toss about 'safe spaces' being 'invaded' by trans people. The sport thing is a bit of a tricky one though and there aren't any easy answers to that particular conundrum.
Then our experiences and the women we know are diametrically opposed in their view of this topic.

Sure. When we continue to house rapists in women’s prisons and allow male sportsmen to dominate women’s sports. Of course we will.

Allowing men into female safe spaces, including rape crisis centres is not minor.

Yes, it’s a distraction that affects over half the population. Just not you.

I’m not sure how drawing attention to this is doing the work of the right wing media. I’m trying to do the opposite.
No you're not

Is repeating a fear quote without context or verifying statistics

Is again repeating the RW rhetoric
Then our experiences and the women we know are diametrically opposed in their view of this topic.
And again. Are women, most women of this view or a noisy minority? I don't know and plainly neither do you. Send your invoice to Tory Head Office there's no sense in anything you are posting. Good day to you.

I think you’re right. This has a real feel of the early eighties backlash about it. Even basically copies the homophobes play book with its arguments. The demographics were unstoppable then. They are now. The attitudes of the under 25s determine the future not those of the over 50s.

Equating the protection of women’s rights with homophobia is monstrous. You need to look at who may suffer and why.

If you would like statistics and context then I suggest you check out Fair Play For Women to see the (male) aggression toward women.
You can close your eyes if you wish. That’s your choice. My point is that the protection of women has fallen to the right wing of this country to the detriment of the vast majority.
And yes, most of the women I know are deeply concerned by this topic. Rightly so.

Sure. When we continue to house rapists in women’s prisons and allow male sportsmen to dominate women’s sports. Of course we will.

Male sportsmen aren't dominating womens' sports. 🤷‍♂️ this is a made up problem.

Male rapists aren't going to women's prisons. There was that one in Scotland and now they've been moved.

I equated the arguments. They merit the equating. Offence against nature, personal yuk factor, they’re all sexual predators. All could be straight out of the textbook of the eighties.

Yeah you're absolutely right, it's blatant. Its sad how easily some folk are manipulated into this kind of bigotry even now.

You might want to check out weightlifting and swimming in the US. I am also looking to what will happen should we allow men into women’s sports. Easy solution is an ‘open’ and a women’s category.

Where have I said they are all sexual predators? Your language, not mine. I uphold the right of people to be as they wish. But that is secondary to women’s rights.
