Wilder/Warnock…. Best and Worst

What were your highlight and lowlight matches under both managers this year?

I think with NW -
BEST - Sheff Unt
WORST - Hull

With CW -
BEST - Spurs
WORST - Hull (again!)
I guess that sums them up perfectly, Neil the old master of the championship, Chris the premier league giant killer.. both boro managers.

Agree, Warnock's high this season was Sheff Utd at home.

As for Wilder, 1st half vs Barnsley was utter dog turd. Worst performance I've seen since the Strachan years.

On the flip side, the way we played against Spurs was by far the best I've seen us play for donkeys years.

Its Infuriating following the Boro :D

Neil Warnock

Best - Sheffield United
Worst - QPR

To comfortably beat a newly relegated side with a strong connection with Warnock was great and it actually gave me hope for the season, but then we followed it up with the Hull wet fart.

QPR was the worst result for me though, inexcusable to fall behind twice to a 10 man team at home.
I also had Covid at the same time, so it's the only home league match I've not attended in 8 years.

Wilder

Best - Tottenham
Worst - Sheffield United

To match and deservedly beat a full strength top 6 Premier League side was brilliant, and showed the improvements under Wilder.

Worst has to be Sheffield United though, and I'd actually have this down as the worst match under both managers.
It's the only game in the whole season where we've been comprehensively outplayed and battered.
4-1 flattered us, not them, and it was the first time under Wilder where I was genuinely concerned about a performance.

It has been a Jekyll and Hyde season. We have lost a third of our games, to still be in with a shout is incredible.

I still scratch my head as to how we lost to Birmingham and Hull at home. Truly below average teams this year.

Best for Warnock - Sheff Utd at home
Worst for Warnock - I can't look past Reading away on Sky, with those nightmares of him bringing Olusanya on to save the game, looked like a pub player. Grim.

Best for Wilder - Spurs in the Cup, Swansea at home in the league. Maybe random but it showed how much he had turned the team around in such a short space.
Worst for Wilder - Sheff Utd away - we were not at the races from minute 1-90.

For Wilder I would agree with above. Hull most disappointin. Spurs brilliant.
Warnocks best would have to be Sheff Utd. The worst for me was Birmingham. I seriously thought we were in danger of fighting off relegation after that performance.
I will however be eternally grateful to him for keeping us up after JW.

Warnock
Best - Bristol City 2-1. Was awesome to get the crowds back and to win as well was great.
Worst - Hull 2-0. Just absolutely shocking

Wilder.
Best - Spurs 1-0 Absolutely unbelievable
Worst - Hull 1-0 What the hell was that

Warnock - the second half 15-20 minute capitulation against Luton away - after being 1-0 up and completely controlling the game first half - was about as bad as it got. 3 goals in 5 mins was a total kick in the nads. Horrible.😖😖

Warnock.
Fulham A. Best.
Reading A against a team decimated by injuries we didn’t turn up

Wilder

Spurs for sure the best

Sheff U Away. The lowest

To me, the majority of Fulham away showed how far behind them we were. And it was quite depressing.
But then Jones came on.......

You are probably right but I didn’t feel many highs when Warnock was manager so I went for the result that delighted me the most (as opposed to the performance).

Warnock:

Best was the home win against Bristol City where we saw debut goals from Uche and Crooks. Felt like we were onto something and finally had height and strength in a team that had just finally got rid of Britt and Fletcher. Jones looked exciting and we scored from a set piece.

Worst by far was the Luton capitulation which summed everything bad about the team up, made even worse with it being in Sky.

Wilder:

Best has to be the Spurs cup win. I’ve not seen many better performances than Howson that night and what a winner. Crowd was amazing, very close second would be Blackpool late winner and the scenes that went with it.

Worst was Huddersfield at home. Felt like everything had unravelled and what followed with the Burnley saga.

Best under Warnock for me was Bristol City, thought we looked as though he had got the players he wanted and could achieve his dream finish. Worst was a couple of days later against QPR, mad game and we were all over the place.

Best under Wilder Spurs and Forest on Boxing Day. Worst Huddersfield at home, looked devoid of ideas and as though we had given up the ghost.

Neil Warnock - So happy he managed my football club & for me the only person who could have saved us going down in our hour of need & whatever was waiting for us, sad to see him go & the way it happened

Chris Wilder - Not my choice when he was mentioned to replace NW but he's certainly changed my thoughts of him, loved his time, but more or less, since he came through the door

Warnock
Best: His first game v Stoke. A big relief after the ominous defeat against Swansea in Woodgate's last game. Survival looked likely.

Worst:
Luton away. After the false dawn of 3 victories against the bottom 3, the defeat against Birmingham followed by this capitulation really brought us down to earth.

Wilder
Best:
Derby. After all the nonsense before hand it was really satisfying to beat them so comprehensively.

Worst:
Sheff Utd. God it was bad. Qualifying for the play-offs seemed like a bad joke. Never mind the top 2 which we actually thought we still has a chance of.

The good thing about wilder is that there has been multiple good things that make you feel it could be our time like , coming from behind and scoring late goals . His worst is not killing the Burnley link off .
