Will Fletcher be the Missing Piece of the Jigsaw?

Fantastic physique.
Good touch for a big bloke.
Weirdly unimposing.
Has scored 3 headers I think, 2 were own-goals.

After 2 and a half years with us I'd say he's practically a first teamer now.

It's more than 1, but I'm pretty sure Britt has scored a lot more headed goals than he has, despite being much smaller.

As a CF he has a better scoring record than Britt and Akpom for us. He also is much better at assisting. His hold up play is ok, he is bigger and better in the air too. He does need to be more consistent, more aggressive, more direct sometimes but he is comfortably the best we have got. We need to get him match fit though. He has started 3 games in 7 months, it might take 5-6 games to get 100% match sharp and we can't really wait for that. We probably need to rotate him until he's fully sharp, because there is no way he can play 180 mins in 4 days at full pelt right now, we might get a 20 min sub and a 60 minute start for a couple of weeks before he can influence for a full 90

I agree it would be a massive risk playing him for too long when he's just back from a big injury

It wouldn’t surprise me if he has spent a chunk of time in the gym and is a stronger now. Could make a significant difference.

Only criticism, I’d love to see him become more aggressive when crosses come in and attack the cross, just get something on it and nick a few ugly goals.

AlsoRob, I’ll see you in court for plagiarism you cheeky monkey! Using my posts to write newspaper articles! Shame on you

It’s not unthinkable that Ash Fletcher comes back and makes a significant difference to the team. Significant enough to get us into the play offs.

He and / or a deadline day signing could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Tav needs to be Centre mid, he won't be wide again now that we have NML, Kebano and Bolasie, plus Johnson and Spence.
Not many teams have the forward options we have now , or midfield .
Central Defence is our weakness , and was during the window .
Liam Lindsay was good tonight for PNE , he would have been ideal .
4/2/3/1 in defence , but 3/3/3/1 in attack .
Fisher can play central mid , with Howson / Morsy / Saville ,- 2 from 4 .
Up front
Tav / Kebano / Mendez Laing / Bolasie
Rotating , taking the game forward .
Options to change it about for fresh legs on 65 minutes
Spence / Britt / Akpom / Fletcher / Johnson / Coulson .
How good ?
play them off the park with pace and skill ,
Win 4-3 - so what . Let’s just go for it with our attacking options .
Use the 5 sub rule to our advantage
