Will you watch the FA Cup Final?

As an old git, I remember the FA Cup final day being a real event. Cup final TV starting in the morning, up until the game at 3 O' Clock

Now I really couldn't tell you who won the last two finals or what time the game kicks off tomorrow.
I don't think I've watched a final for five or more years apart from MOTD at night. I wonder why?

I feel like I should make an effort tomorrow, but two Manc teams and a likely easy win for City doesn't help!

I'm not too bothered. Like you I used to watch it every year. I'll probably watch MOTD as I have that on record for every episode

Yes.

Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be.

I have to agree however that I’m a little worried about how football is evolving. The Roma-Seville final for example was embarrassing. Did we have similar themed games in the 80s or 90s? I could think of some really dull games.

Italian football in the 90s is looked back upon very fondly. I remember at the time is was almost unwatchable as it was that boring!

Sorry. Off on a trademark tangent!

City win but think it’ll be close.

A lot of the magic was lost when they decided to play the semi finals at Wembley, along with other finals like the checka trade/ Johnsons paint or whatever it's called final there. Even having the play off finals there has diminished it in my opinion as Wembley used to be an almost mystical cathedral of a place.
On the other hand we may all just be getting old gets and nothing feels quite as special as it did in our youth.

I totally agree but I can remember the hysteria of getting to the ZDS final as if it was some sort of miracle that we had actually made it to Wembley.
Must admit I probably won’t see the game today as I’m driving to Cornwall and actually never imagined the Cup Final actually being played in June when I booked it.

Can't remember the last FA Cup final I've watched start - finish.

As a kid I remember watching them all day, great occasion, great TV.

Probably stopped watching due to the same teams dominating pretty much year after year; that and saturation TV coverage made it just another game.

I'll probably watch it this afty because of local interest, but expect City to turn up, grind Man U down, bag a couple of goals, go home with the cup.......

The bizarre thing that I can’t get my head around is the Wembley pricing policy, which I’m sure they just make up as they go along.
For instance, our lass, as you all possibly know by now, is a long standing platinum season ticket holder at OT.
She is sitting in the same block today not far off the same row and seat as she had for the League cup final and the FA cup semifinal.
League cup Final: £40
FA cup semifinal: £75
FA cup Final: £115
Talk about poking you’re eye out with a sharp stick, although on the other hand they know that the fans will pay, whatever the price, which I suppose is the total reality here.

I didn't realise it was on today, so a no from me. I was never a big football fan as a kid, but FA cup final Saturday was always special. Not arsed at all now

Yes. I like to watch City for their sheer class up front and United to see the latest in diving from Fernandes.

There will be just as many young people excited today watching one of their first few FA cup finals as there were in your original day. (and mine)
Time, ageing , familiarity and repeated occasions all blunt our excitement/experience. I'm an old git and feel the same but I'll watch ..but won't be excited. :( 🤷‍♂️

Will they be wearing 3 piece John Collier suits, ah back in the day when they even mentioned what breakfast the teams were having. All gone now.
