The problem with testing players is the media. Lose a game even if you have qualified and suddenly we are Shiote.
Comfortable so far, especially when looking at some of the other groups which are much closer.
Nations are certainly becoming much tougher to beat and actually having a go - i think the Euro format has encouraged this.
Spain and Holland both in a battle to get top spot in their respective groups
Why?For me I think the group should just play one set of games.......in Englands case just 5 and do away with the standard 5x Home and 5x Away....make it a lottery on whether you play home or away but over 5 games
*my god that was long winded, I`m sure there was an easier way to get my point across
To many gamesWhy?
So you would prefer San Marino to qualify at the expense of a 'better' team?To many games
Disrupts the league
What`s the point of teams like San Marino playing 10 games when it`s clear they aren`t going to qualify even after 5 games
Reducing to 5 could potentially lead to some underdog qualifying that hasn`t the legs for 10 games
Fair do'sSo you would prefer San Marino to qualify at the expense of a 'better' team?
Just so they can get hammered in the finals instead of the qualifiers?
I'm not sure the smaller teams (especially the players) feel as though they are being dragged around Europe. An international game at Wembley is probably a highlight of their career. The games may also help them progress individually and as a team.
If you did reduce the games I doubt it would change the number of international breaks anyway. They would be used for more meaningless friendlies, or an expansion of the Nations League, which was actually introduced in the first place to minimise the number of meaningless friendlies.
