I've gone Johnson, maybe because I was 13 when Thatcher left office and wasn't that politically aware at that age.

On the other hand, I can respect her principled evil more than Johnson's opportunist evil.

Churchill was, in many ways, abhorrent. Was he Hitler or Stalin? Of course not. Were it not for WW2 he would barely merit a mention in our political history we have lionised the man for far too long. He wasn't evil but he did and said many things that were not even acceptable then. He is one of the lies we tell ourselves about being "British".

I've gone for Johnson because at the end of Johnson's tenure I would actually have replaced him with the reanimated corpse of Thatcher. She was at least competent.

Good post. Yes, my reasoning for voting Johnson. Say what you like about Thatcher, she was a formidable adversary. Johnson was just an over-promoted blowhard that showed how far the calibre of politicians had fallen, how the right-wing media had become a pastiche that would countenance downright fools. The lionisation of Churchill is part of the same depressing descent into a Culture War cartoon.

Well I voted Thatcher on the basis that I hate her with such venom. What she did to my Familly (Owld feller was a miner at ‘that’ time) and as a sixteen year old, becoming politically aware, realising she was using mass unemployment as a tool for managing the economy. Not nice, I believed naively that government should look after its citizens first and foremost. BUT Churchill is the big daddy wrong-un of them all that spawned the rest. He was a war monger and loved it. Yes he was a Liberal at first, but he would’ve nailed his flag to anything that gave him a voice. Thatcher would frigg herself senseless at the mention of his name, the whole evil empire comes from him.

I don’t know. I’ve no real political leanings either way. I’ve never voted Tory tho.

Can’t help thinking if Labour hadn’t moved so far to the left when they elected him leader then we may never have had Johnson elected as PM.

He was crucified by those whose interests he threatened and naively believed that those being screwed all ends up by those people should of had the sense to see that they didn’t have to accept what was being done to them.
He offered a real chance for lasting change in this country.
Unfortunately, we are hamstrung by people who not only believe everything they read in the newspapers and their ‘betters’ tell them but the greedy, the downright nasty and prejudiced.

I voted Johnson on the very fact that he is a snake in a chameleons clothes…
With thatcher, you may not have liked her policies (understatement, I know) but at least we all knew where we stood with her and the aim was to get her removed from political influence (we’ve still not managed that)
With Johnson he changes his course in what ever way is going to help him… the only time he fails is when his lies catch up with him..
