Yorkshire CCC

Well just got back from Headingley and it was freezing!

Yorks never looked like taking 10 wickets, the pitch played very well all day apart from a couple that bounced high or low but not many. Leicester batted sensibly and apparently it is their first win at Headingley for over 100 years in county champs - so I can say I witnessed history.

Desperately need a fit (non England playing) Fisher as there isnt much pace otherwise - not that he is express any more. After watching Bairstow hobble through a warm up routine I would be very surprised if he is fit for start of England series never mind playing a couple of Yorks games as a warm up.

Declaration seemed right at time leaving 86 overs so having a second go with new ball, but according to Coad the bal goes very soft after 10 or so overs but keeps its shape and therefore umpires wont change it.

It was a good days cricket with Leics always slightly ahead but any result was possible until very near end.

Yorkshire do still play at Scarborough in the Summer - such a pity that a county of 8.5m? people only have two venues?

They used to use Middlesbrough, Harrogate, Bradford, Hudderfield, Hull, Sheffield - Anymore?

They need every penny they can get in leeds as headingleys improvements cost a lot, bit like why Wembley is used so much to cover the loans for its rebuild

The number of people there yesterday won't have got them much money.

Charging members £15 a year to use the long room has caused quite a but of dissent and cost them the price of a bacon sarnie and a cup of coffee every morning of play from a fair few members.

They make some strange decisions along with their good ones eg half season ticket giving you 12 days of county championship for £75 which is ideal for me travelling from Teesside but no car.

Still no news on their punishment from ECB yet but if that is a financial hit then I don't see how they survive.

Didn't they play at York last year when Headingley was being used for the monstrosity that is "The Hundred"

The one is part of the other though. Long Room access is include in the all in membership package just as it always was. If you opt for the “pay only for the bits you want” package and it’s one of the bits you want you pay for it.

At Middlesbrough, of course, they played at The Rugby Club on green lane,
Many a happy Sunday spent their watching the one day games. We had the likes of David Bairstow having fun with the boundaries.

And, the legendary service of Jack and Barbara who ran the bar for years.

Scarborough gets 2 4 day games per season.
The one day cup home games are 2 at York and 2 at Scarborough.

everything else inducing blast and hundred is at Headingley.

One of the reasons cited for not playing at all the old "outgrounds" was it was felt that we weren't getting a home advantage as the players weren't getting used to a consistent home track.
