YouGov Poll - 33 Point lead!

If it was up to the British people the chances are he would still be Prime Minister, the Conservative Party removed him, not the electorate. He doesn’t need to change in the eyes of a lot voters.

I really hope I’m wrong on this, but I just think this is going to end really badly for the country if he comes back.

Just think about this, next Friday there is currently a 13/8 chance he will be PM again.

The party removed him because he became unpopular with the public due to party gate and his subsequent stupidity in beliving he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it.

I mean, this was a few months ago. Have you forgotten all this?

I'll repeat, if Johnson was so popular he would still be PM, he wasn't which is why he's spent the time since on holiday.

and that would be the first thing that would be asked, why he has spent the last 7 weeks failing to represent his electorate. He could even get recalled by them for a by election
Had a 3 month holiday when it was 'vital' he stayed on, then when Truss gone and he's being touted as coming back he's......on holiday

polls would suggest that you are wrong

I tend to agree. 65% of respondents disapproved of Johnson at the time he resigned.

Truss only matched that disapproval rate on the 9th of October.

In fairness to Johnson, around 33% of voters approved if Johnson at the point of resignation. Truss was down below 15%

So, Johnson had a hardcore of support, but was still a liability to the party in the polls.

I would expect there to be a reasonably dramatic narrowing of the gap in the polls once Sunak is installed with Hunt as PM, as that should settle the markets and suggest that adults are in charge at the top again, finally.

There will be Tory infighting but I expect most Tory MP's will swing behind Sunak for now. Boris had 60 prepared to publicly declare for him, but some of those have quickly shifted to Sunak. The Conservatives have a 70 seat majority so at worst there will only be 40 rebellious enough to vote against the Government, not enough to make stable governing difficult as it was for Theresa May.

I don't think this will change the minds of Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP voters. Conservatives ending this farce has probably not shifted their polling too much. What it ought to do is allow some Conservative voters who were angry or disillusioned to switch from no voting at all or protest voting back to Conservative. That will be tempered by some who were big Boris supporters or racist that go the other way. It should still see a fairly big shift in Conservative support in the polls overall.

It probably won't last. There is an economic time lag coming and things are about to hit people and businesses in the pocket this winter, so the polls will narrow for a bit then creep back month by month I expect.

Sunak might be in significant trouble by February he is ousted and Mordaunt gets her turn (or a GE) then.

Oof that's gotta hurt.
Hurt who? I would have thought the Tories would have hoped to see a slightly bigger bounce - Labour still miles ahead and Sunak has the unenviable position of already having to firefight with what is rapidly becoming a scandal aroud Suella Braverman. Sack her and he loses a lot of ERG support knowing they're likely to casue trouble. Don't sack her and his reputation will be in tatters with some of the public and the more moderate Tories, few as they are.

Tories surely now just hoping for damage limitation and that come next GE the wipeout isn't any worse than 1997. However, at this juncture it looks as though an even bigger wipeout could happen.

He certainly does have a problem with Sue Ellen. She’s only there because, being a bit of a talisman, for the right he has to keep her in place..if he can. If the the story does firm up and he continues to defend her it’s going to hurt him.
Apparently The cabinet secretary as already said he won’t hold an investigation into her actions. In some reports, Sunak. “ Considers the matter closed” Dead giveaway.
Funny as…..

I bet this is the plan - who would want to govern in the next Parliament? Whoever it is will be on a hiding to nothing with the state this country is in!

Yeah well the Cabinet Secretary is an absolute fanny. Johnson's pick and lucky to still be in post after hardly covering himself in glory over partygate.

"Considers the matter closed" whenever Johnson said it, which was often, it usually meant things were about to get much worse. Do they even hear themselves 😂
