YouGov Poll - 33 Point lead!

Looks like zahawinhas got his boris 2.0 after all

Who is Immediately captured by the ERG and the right wing loons. The Tory membership in the country seem to be losing their s*** because as proved with him and Truss he’s not wanted by them. Richboy Soonaxed..(not mine) but hopefully appropriate.

getting a double bounce at the moment new PM and taking over from the car wreck that was Liz Truss, so to be expected I think it will settle down and labour will still have a healthy lead in the poll's

Sunak will close the gap to a point or 2. Then winter will come, blackouts and next years recession. By the time the may by elections come round Sunak will be toast if Braverman doesn't finish him off first.

I love it. More people trust the party who have completely trashed the economy, almost to the point of complete financial collapse of a nation, to repair the economy…. than the party that haven’t.
Yep. Makes sense. 🤦🏻‍♂️
To be fair it's not like Sunak was in a position where he could have done anything about it.....oh hang a minute it was literally his job wasn't it?

Unfortunately too many in this country make decisions and form opinions on not much more than instinct or perception (usually guided by our out of control media).

Beggars belief Tories are trusted with the economy based on any of the facts you might choose to look at. But then we don't really do facts in this country do we? It's all unicorns and magic rainbows still isn't it?

Never underestimate the stupidity levels of the U.K. population 😁 throw in a generous helping of Rupert Murdoch media brainwashing and the Tories won’t be finished yet

Labour were expecting this 'bounce' from the 'new' government. The direction of polls moving forward will depend what perception the voting public have of the 'success' of the government - 'helped' of course by the Tory press commentaries

I think it's important to note that the expected 'bounce' from Truss's appointment never materialised. In fact the polls went the other way. All this latest polling is merely a correction. And as others have alluded to, let's wait for the upcoming budget to find out how the reported £50bn black hole is going to be filled. Public spending cuts, increased personal taxes, increased Council Tax and real terms cuts to benefits and the state pension are generally not known to be vote winners.

The Guardian are reporting this morning that Sunak and the Tories are polling higher on the economy than labour

That more voters trust the Tories now to “repair the economy”

When politics is broken down to sub categories this is generally seen as one of the most important with voters

It then goes on to say there is likely to be tax rises which WILL be popular and possibly a form or full blown austerity

So a lot will probably depend on the November 11 announcement to see how well Sunak will do.
In all polls the overall stats are:

Labours 44 (-6 points this week)
Tories 28 (+5 points this week)

A 11 point swing in 5 days narrowing the gap to 16 points 🤔
Sunak is shown to have a +8 approval rating

It's not all polls this week, it's Opinium (to be expected given their methodology) and YouGov (again expected given the huge Labour lead) that shows such swings, the rest have been modest and the majority still have Labour over 50%

Basically it's the anti Truss vote returning, which was to be expected.

To be fair to Sunak he was right on calling out Liz Truss on her economic policy during the leadership race, (though he wasn't the only one) given that many people watched it over what seemed like an eternity, it's no wonder he has a bounce on the economy.

He has a bounce because the Tory media know the Tories are in serious danger of extinction after 2024, particularly if proportional representation comes in and so they are giving Sunak the full dressing up ’he’s settled the markets down’ treatment.

Truss made stupid mistakes but the economy she inherited was a mess largely because of Brexit and Sunak’s poor performance as Chancellor.

I don‘t think Sunak will last much beyond taking the ‘difficult decisions’ and then the taking blame for unpopularity with Johnson putting together a power grab before the next election.

They really are in massive trouble and in my opinion they have opened the door to proportional representation and a new type of government.

Agreed. He keeps making statements about what a load of **** we are in but convienently forgets he was the hand on the tiller until not long ago.
And Braverman busy telling us that the immigration system is chaos.

Gordon Brown left the country in such a state, it's still not fixed 12 years later. Lot to answer for that fella

To be fair I don’t see how Labour can offer real change

They simply can’t deliver on any change for the working class
Labours method of collecting taxes to manage the economy will be totally different from the bent tories.
Proper windfall tax on profits of oil and gas companies
Scrap non dom status
Scrap charity status for private schools
Reign in excess profits of renewable power providers who charge power prices based on wholesale gas prices and are making a small fortune
Sembcorp at Wilton site are a case in point.
That’s the theme….and it frees up funds to throw at youth projects and childcare etc etc. giving back the money taken from our communities over the last 12 years by these vvankers

That’s just the start…..labour will save this country, the tories aim is to create the USA mark2 and a ‘Wild West’ economy….

To be fair I don’t see how Labour can offer real change

They simply can’t deliver on any change for the working class

And that’s their dilemma

Hmm dilemma. So you're saying Labour have difficult and undesirable choices to make in appealing to the working class?

So placing the tax burden on those with the broadest shoulders is a difficult, undesirable choice?

Or funding public services that the working class rely on is a difficult, undesirable choice?

Or on a more basic level, not giving billions away in tax payers money to their mates with no competition is a difficult, undesirable choice.

Unless you mean due to 12 years of Tory economic incompetence and corruption Labour will face a dilemma in how to pay for anything?

Labour will have difficult and undesirable choices to make when in power and all because the Tories have raided the treasury to enrich themselves, their families and their mates while destroying politics in the country to cover it.
