Schitt, Schitt and more Schitt. 💩💩💩

For the umpteeth Saturday in a row the best quality television tonight is a 50 year old repeat of Dad’s Army.

I appreciate that children and the easily-distracted like to watch something very lightweight which won’t tax their little minds on a Saturday night but can those of us who have a reasonable IQ and like to watch SOMETHING that isn’t a puerile gameshow or talent programme, please be provided for? After all, it’s not like we can go out instead at the moment.
Hasn't Saturday night TV always this way from Cannon and Ball through Noels House Party and Beadles About, You've Been Framed and Saturday Night Takeaway on to talk and chat shows not sure what else is expected or was shown, apart from Dr Who I suppose.

Agree Sat night TV has always been about “family shows” which inevitably mean celebrities either chatting, singing, running around or getting custard pies in their face.

We were always BBC over ITV in our house. You know, Blue Peter over Magpie, Look North over Northern Life etc.
For me Saturday night always meant, roughly this:
Grandstand
Cartoons
News
Saturday night at the movies
Generation game/2 Ronnie's
Match of the day
Bed, or hammer house of horror.
Good times.

Kojak

Ironside
Summertime Soecial
Cilla Black Show
Val Doonican Show

Jim’ll Fix It 😧. Fun programme making people’s dreams come true, just a shame about Saville.
Bruce Forsyth and the Generation Game - a game show that was worth watching. Bruce was brilliant.
Starsky and Hutch
Kojak
Parkinson (best interviewer ever, the programme was all about his guests, not about him)
And a good film to finish off the evening, maybe an Amicus Horror or a Marx Brothers

ITV I never watched because it was pretty cr@ppy even then.

Parkinson got the guest to talk about themselves, they had not come on the show to push some book, film, record etc.

This evenings attempt to avoid Ant or Dec was Crocodile Dundee 2 followed by Demolition Man.
I'd sooner watch 2 hours of the test card than those two.
A 21st century Lennie and Jerry, or Mike and Bernie Winters... But not as funny.Testcardf.jpg

Say what you like about him but Jim fixed it for me to milk a goat blindfolded

First of all I watched the 'Sinking of the Bismark' followed by 'The Last Samurai.'

I am not a lover of Tom Cruise, but this is one of my favourite films.

Well I don’t know what people are moaning about, love Sat night TV, tonight have watched, Catchphrase, Ant and Dec, Casualty and just catching up with the Voice now......a bit of light entertainment, nothing too serious.....👍.....

Oh for a meal at a pub
A pint and a mouthful of grub
Some banter and laughs
And a few photographs
As we finally start to wake up
And out of our slumber we rise,
and sample real ales and pies,
We will sit with our friends,
our lives we will mend
and cheer the lockdown ending.

But wait what is that I do see,
Teesside is still in Tier 3.
The schools are still closed
and the pubs cannot open.
Once again Boris' promise is broken.
