I didn't say he needed to be. I said I would suggest BBC staff should refrain from showing allegiance. He doesn't need to be impartial, he doesn't work in news or politics.

what allegiance has he shown: He's pointed out that fascist rhetoric is fascist rhetoric. No allegiance, just a statement of facts as he sees them.I didn't say he needed to be. I said I would suggest BBC staff should refrain from showing allegiance.

why? particularly since he isn't BBC staffI didn't say he needed to be. I said I would suggest BBC staff should refrain from showing allegiance.
Farage hasn't been on the BBC at all in recent memory, certainly not that I can think of?Has Farage been on the BBC though?
And he DOES present MotD, so what's your point?
I'm on about BBC staff in general.why? particularly since he isn't BBC staff
I was referring to BoroMart's post about 'BBC staff' and how they don't need to remain impartial unless they work in News. I was just suggesting that they should try to remain impartial, not specifically Lineker who as noted isn't on staff.what allegiance has he shown: He's pointed out that fascist rhetoric is fascist rhetoric. That doesn't actually address the point I've brought up. Which is that he has shown no "allegiance" Which are your exact wordsI was referring to BoroMart's post about 'BBC staff' and how they don't need to remain impartial unless they work in News. Very weasel words to get round the fact you seem personally upset by what Lineker has said. Why would that be?"I would suggest BBC staff should refrain from showing allegiance."
This was not directly aimed at Lineker or the OP. It was a general comment about something another poster said.
I'm not personally upset by it, what makes you think I am? I am more upset by the constant criticism he gets on here for being paid what is a fairly standard salary in his line of work for someone of his profile.Very weasel words to get round the fact you seem personally upset by what Lineker has said. Seems on odd place to bring that up IF that is your true intention. To try and derail a thread were we talk about a public figure speaking out against the fascisim of the government. if you really are jus concerned about his salary, there would have been a better platform than this. Well, do you think I am a Tory voter or something? Read my views on the 'stop the boats' thread. I found it odd that you mentioned Lineker's wage and then stated he normally gets pelters about it. Is that what you were hoping would happen here? It is obvious you don't like the man and have had little digs at him throughout the thread.Well, do you think I am a Tory voter or something? Read my views on the 'stop the boats' thread. I don't think a thread about Gary Lineker is an odd place to air my views about Gary Lineker, or specifically the board's consensus view of Gary Lineker or indeed the BBC as a whole.
I don't dislike the man at all! I've met him 6 or 7 times and worked with him once or twice. He's a really nice bloke. Where are the digs?I found it odd that you mentioned Lineker's wage and then stated he normally gets pelters about it. Is that what you were hoping would happen here? I think you are better off leaving it now mate.
Laura Kuenssberg would beg to differ.I know the BBC is apolitical, or at least it's meant to be
100%. Sharp should have resigned weeks ago.I'm liking the 'BBC Staff' should not show allegiances discussion......
