Gary Lineker being reined in

I bet plenty on this board would be happy to see him fronting Question Time instead of MOTD, even on his huge salary!
The BBC gave him that salary, he didn't write his own cheque. I'd quite happily see him chairing Question Time rather than the stooge in there now.

When you moan about the ridiculous fees and contracts paid out for mediocrity at the Boro, remember who signed the cheques.

OK but he isn't exactly impartial either.

Personally I don't really moan about big fees and contracts at Boro, I accept its the way of the world whether I like it or not. Same goes for Lineker.

Lineker doesn't have a regular employee's contract with the BBC, so I'd be reluctant to assume he has necessarily signed up for any restrictions on his social media use.
correct he has a contract of service not employment, he is effectively self employed. But even so, BBC employees can post whatever political stuff they choose, unless, they are involved in the making of news or politics programmes, which he isn't

whilst that's true, I would suggest they should try to refrain. If you want impartiality you have to think about how its perceived by both sides. The biggest threat to the BBC atm is how unified both the right and left are against them on the grounds of 'bias'.

Yeah, but the thing is the things you cite above that are sold to voters don’t *always* result in folk being sent to the gas chambers. I can’t stand this government or it’s immigration policy but I don’t think the casual use of the term “Nazi” online (as was used about Starmer on the other thread!) is helpful either.

Here's your checklist, how many apply to this government.......

Hats of to him. And to Neville to a degree. Not afraid to stand up and be counted.
But they both did support Saudi Arabia by taking part in the Football World Cup. But then so did many others.

He doesn't need to be impartial, he doesn't work in news or politics.

No, luckily for him. Because In Orwell’s 1984 Room 101 was actually based on Room 105 at the BBC. Which was occupied by MI5 from 1935 until the 1990’s for the purpose of vetting all employees.

If he hadn’t been fronting MOTD for 25 years he’d have a profile as big as Chris Waddle’s now.

I don’t think Farage has been on QT for over 3 years btw.
Has Farage been on the BBC though?

And he DOES present MotD, so what's your point?
