Thing is a penalty in a shootout doesn't really count as a goal does it? You stand to lose more than you'd gain. Obviously scoring in a shootout would have been a boost, but would it have been that much of one? He'd still be on 0 goals for the season. Most of the defence buried one too. What better way to rebuild confidence than bang in a goal at old Trafford. Always find it very odd that strikers forgo take penalties and let defenders go ahead of them.
As it turned out everyone is happy.
Fair point! What's Coburn done to be behind him?
That’s just not true at all….! It’s about performing and he hasn’t after 3 games and now being on the field for 45 mins or more wouldn’t step up for a penaltySeems to be the new FMTTM pariah.
And could cost us the points required for automatic or play offs spot!!!I wouldnt say the tattoo was heartbreaking more absolute cringe for me.
By the time "theres a player in there" makes an appearance the season will be all but over.
If this is required to reboot his enthusiasm then maybe he is in the wrong professionMAybe he needs. Rocky type of scenario? Get back to basics just like his tattoo. Start by ditching all the fake social media rubbish and get on the streets the boro to kick a few empty cans with some kids. Focus on that core feeling of joy he must have had as a kid
He like scoring against Spurs at least..If this is required to reboot his enthusiasm then maybe he is in the wrong profession
Looking at the footage he doesn’t, he goes over and consoles the united players who are on 100k + a weekInteresting take on the pen’ . Did he celebrate with the players after the game ?
Why not assess that ? No one wants him to fail & it is fair that we try to assess what the situation is , don't see it as policing , rather trying to understand.some serious over-reactions here. send him back?
could easily have scored on Friday night and in the other games he has played. Just isn't happening for him at the moment.
As for policing his reaction after the shootout, Jesus.
Not so sure , sport at that level is really mind-games- look at the psychologists used by Team Sky in cycling . I would guess his position is even more about confidence etc so if there is something that can be done ( if indeed it needs to be ) why not try it ?If this is required to reboot his enthusiasm then maybe he is in the wrong profession
But bringing him on for the last ‘20’ mins or so means either we are chasing the game and he can’t score or seemingly create something for himself OR we are wanting to hold onto a lead and he is brought on the close down and make it difficult for defenders. If he doesnt play many more games it will have been a big waste of money. I would presevere but in small times, bringing him on maybe for last 20

When has he been booed? He doesn’t get stick constantly.. as you say he’s only been here for 4 matches. I’ve never heard him be booed home or away. He's only been here for 4 matches.
He's already been booed by sections of the fans and gets stick constantly.
Barring Crooks, he had our best chance of the entire match on Friday, he did more than Balogun did all game, but nobody is calling for Balogun to be shipped back.
Watmore, a forward, took a penalty after 2 defenders and 3 midfielders had already went.
Sol Bamba's first touch of the ball was his penalty, but nobody is abusing Watmore for not stepping up before him.
If Elanga had scored, I'm sure Connolly would have taken one.
He's low on confidence, but the reactions to him won't help.

Unbelievable.I am all for giving him more and more game time. He seems to have a talent for getting into positions to shoot, certainly seems to shoot more than anyone else.
[QUOTE="festa5,
also of course been plenty of defenders over the years with a knack for taking them. David Unsworth, Leighton Baines, Dennis Irwin, Ian Harte, Julian Dicks etc etc.
