Derby Board

He grabbed at Tav and yanked him just before the box. That was a yellow for a deliberate foul. Then Lawrence violently shoved Tav twice who did well not to react, then Lawrence put his head into Tavs. It wasn't a full headbutt, but, it was an act of violence and in the letter of the law a red. Remember Aliadieres red all those years ago, that's all it takes for it to be a red.
Fair play to Tav, you just know if he had moved his head towards Lawrence he would have been straight down on the ground with a red card for Tav. Horrible player

At the match I thought the crooks challenge was 50/50 and yellow was fair. Having seen the replay, it wasn’t a great challenge, but only ever had intention to get the ball. Perhaps VAR would have upgraded to red, who knows.

As has been pointed out, atleast it was an honest challenge, unlike their player on Tav

It was one of those challenges that could have been a yellow or a red. I don't think it was a clear red at all, Lawrence was a clear red and Tav got a yellow for what? Not rolling around on the ground claiming injury, it's no wonder players go down in those situations.

Either way, I'm glad that match is out of the way, both from the perspective of taking on a team fighting for their lives and with the off field stuff.

One thing I do agree with on their board was the idiots in and out of the ground. The stewards did a great job in the ground of trying to keep order and the police tried their best outside of the ground, but there were a lot of idiots seemingly only their to cause trouble. It's the only time on years that I wish I'd left early to get my son away from it all. He's only 8 and had no idea what was going on but I had to tell him to keep tight hold of my hand and not to go running anywhere. It seemed like their was trouble from the moment we left the ground until we reached the bus stop near the town hall. And the bus driver seemed so spooked by it all that he didn't charge anyone who got on the bus until we were well out of town!

Hopefully this is the last time we play Derby for a long, long time!

Mike Dean got it spot on. It was a little late but wasn’t a red. That’s why Dean was given the game, it needed an experienced ref.

As I said on another thread, there was no mention of Lawrence trying to head but Tav, or Bielek with his hands around Howson’s throat.

I'd have been furious if Crooks was given a red card for that challenge.

100% a yellow, but nothing more, their player feigning injury made it look far worse than it was.

There is only one person's decision that counts and that is the referees and as Uncle_Rico said, the ref thought it was a yellow.

It is no good bleating about it, they need to move and concentrate on beating Peterborough next Saturday.

Dean was stood right in front of the melee that broke out which ended up with Howson being grabbed by the throat, his was reaction was to just stand there with hands on hips as if he was annoyed by it. Didn’t make any effort to try and split it up.

If you believe Derby fans, Crooks was offside for the goal, the referee broke up a clear Derby attack when he collided with their player and our team was full of "thugs" who bullied them to win the game.

I'm wondering what game they were at yesterday because it certainly wasn't the one I watched!

Don't forget that Mike Dean was appointed by the EFL/Gibson to make sure that Derby got nothing from the game.

The Crooks one was fine, one of those ones where he had the ball was running with it and had a heavy touch, derby player makes a challenge, wins the ball and Crooks comes in over him. Had it been the two running side by side and the same thing happens it’s just a tackle on Crooks nothing else. Was right in front of the red and crooks’s momentum took him through rather than him hitting the player with any force. His leg ended up on top but the foot never made contact

Out of interest, are Wycome getting the pelters from the Derby fans like Boro have, given their claim remains unsettled.

It always struck me as a bit odd that Boro seemed to be their sole focus, when in fact Wycome also have a similar claim.

I can only assume their focus was directed at Boro because they see us as a direct competitor and that has aggravated the situation?

I think it's because Gibson was the one who pushed for the rules to actually be applied to them. They've had it in for Gibson since then. I remember when it initially looked like they'd got away with it they were gloating about how it was just sour grapes and he was a "tinpot" chairman.

He's been their bogeyman for a while now. In their minds he's the evil, bitter and twisted mastermind with a sinister influence over the FA determined on the destruction of their club.

Even though Boro settled the issue, the fact it remains private will irk them too as now it gives the impression Morris has paid compensation in some way, leaving an air that is smelling of additional guilt, they can’t continue their vendetta that their plight being all Gibson’s fault without looking even dafter, although they will.

I just hope that they survive as a club with a new buyer, get relegated and that they don’t benefit in such a way that a new owner is allowed to spend significantly next season. That will be galling as it will mean the taxpayer has effectively subsidised Derby by a good few £M if reports re HMRC debt repayment being only 25% are true.
