Trying to get people out to the pubs again after Covid.

What's a lie? The owner supported brexit? Old people use Wetherspoons? A
I honestly can't believe I have to spell this out to you.

I think you're deliberately trolling now but here goes: You are saying, and repeating, that the problem I have with spoons is the owner is a brexitist. This is an outright lie, and you're using it to deflect from the argument. It's easier for you to lie about me than it is to discuss the issue. That type of behaviour is scummy. Lying is just wrong, but you can't help yourself

No it's definitely brexit. You don't care about the people who work there, you don't care about the people who frequent it.

Would you visit it if it was owned by somebody else?

Wow, so I've called you out for lying about me 4 times now. Even explaining the lie in great detail. Yet you're STILL lying about me?

Wow. You really can't complain about me calling you scummy if you persist in lying about me even when I've pointed it out. Seriously? What is it with that level of trolling. That you flat out lie, and when it's pointed out you just repeat and repeat the lie? You wonder why I think so little of you after that behaviour?

Has he used the “stop telling lies” line yet? Odds on he has.

I eventually caved and put the cretinous troll on ignore, it’s a much better experience all round to be fair, it’s abundantly clear he is trolling although admin seem incredibly reluctant to take action for some reason.
Another stalker! Hilarious that you and @Same_as_before make a song and dance about "ignoring" me when you can't argue against me, yet when you want to flat out insult you have no qualms about "unignoring".

My god I have a keepnet of people being scumbag trolls here. It's as if you all want to revive the endless insult days of Come on Boro. You're proper pieces of work aren't you?

In my view a quite disgusting figure Tim Martin running Wetherspoons - pouring all that money into printing millions of his news papers - and ramming his BREXIT thoughts and rants through our letter boxes. Two years later complaining about lack of workers and calling for EU migrant workers returning. He rammed his ideas down our throats whether we wanted to hear it or not and I can only applaud anyone that doesn't want anything to do with his business.

I've done the same too. Admin post confirms the correct decision was made. 👍🏻

That's fair enough. That's all people had to say, because of brexit. Not hijack a thread about the prices variations in different establishments around the country and have those who frequent Wetherspoons personally attacked from a place of out right snobbery.

But do you want all those places shut too? No meeting places for the lonely? No cheap meals out for a family as a treat who work every hour of the day to make ends meet? What about those who work there and, whisper it, enjoy working there? Stick them on UC?

I've done the same too. Admin post confirms the correct decision was made. 👍🏻
I have never taken a side on Small Town etc. I don't see it that way. People have been admonished previously over these threads and yes including ST.
We did move the message board onto a platform that allows people to control who they communicate with - that was what we were asked for. So, everyone takes control themselves.

No I don't want pubs to close and people to lose their jobs - so lets get this thread back on track then.
How do we get people out again?
There are people like DCI trying to get people out into pubs for live music. Stockton Calling will be doing this in Stockton venues at Easter.
I am presently pulling together a local history programme in May - hoping to get people into town centre venues. I have been working with Base Camp all season to host pre match and other events to encourage people to go out and make match days and beyond events.
It is really tricky thought isn't it? I see people scratching their heads and wondering what to do. And also hoping that people will soon feel safe and comfortable in all settings.

Chances are the vast majority working there are on UC anyway because of the ***** wages and being allowed to exploit zero hour contracts by essentially hiring 6 people for 1 role

I've taken @Subbuteo_171 advice onboard and used the ignore function. Yet you can't be surprised I've stuck up for myself (and others less fortunate or older than us) when called a scumbag because those people and I may occasionally pay £2 for a pint instead of £8?

People are naturally coming back out again though. As I mentioned earlier on in the thread, many many many hospitality businesses survived the last global recession, some think-tanks even going as far as stating that people using hospitality businesses helped drag the world out of the recession.

Would a VAT cut help? Most certainly. The tax on beer, cider and wine needs to be distributed fairly between hospitality businesses and supermarkets/corner shops.

And you can’t be surprised that I’ve stuck up for myself when you’ve spread lilies about me. I guess we’ll reach an impasse here as you’re incapable of apologising and I hate that type of trolling where people like you make up how the other person is feeling just to argue with them. Glad you’ve ignored me with that behaviour. Let’s hope you don’t act like sub and same as and continue to insult whilst you “ignore” because that’s also poor behaviour.
