I watched footage of the Madrid fans, it seems like very few did it ( on the footage I saw), and they may have been struggling with cramped and squashed conditions near the turnstiles as well.Yes, both sides guilty, seen footage of Madrid fans doing the same thing.
Looked like an absolute shambles by the police. Like Stoke away times a factor of 50.
And there is factual reporting somewhere that 15k fans arrived at the ground without tickets is there?Apparently up to 15k arrived at the ground with either no tickets or fake ones. That's what caused the backlog.
I guess genuine ticket holders then get frustrated. Also we all know as fans you leave it until the last min staying in the Pig Iron. Whist many are saying they arrived 2 hours before I'm sure many rocked up last min.
It still doesn't excuse pepper spray. Yet it's what foreign police do. I mean at times I wish our lot were as heavy handed.
UEFAs statement last night said something along the lines of ‘due to so many people trying to gain entry with fake tickets’And there is factual reporting somewhere that 15k fans arrived at the ground without tickets is there?
Or is it just some nonsense on some knobs twatter account?
Agree, the police and stewards should have been much better prepared and their reactions showed their lack of experience but it was a perfect storm of various circumstances, one of which will have included ticketless fans and fans with fake tickets trying to gain entry. It’s clear that the organisation and policing/stewarding at the game was shockingly bad. But it’s also clear that a number of Liverpool fans have got in without tickets, either fake ones or by jumping fences. I’m sure that will have just made a bad situation worse.
It’s not a vile thread. There are numerous factors that aligned to cause the problems.Vile thread this. Let’s ignore people who were actually there and just assume Liverpool fans were up to no good in their 10s of thousands while using a phrase that was used about a tragic disaster to have a pop at them.
Police and stewards seem to have handled the Madrid end of the ground so much better .Agree, the police and stewards should have been much better prepared and their reactions showed their lack of experience but it was a perfect storm of various circumstances, one of which will have included ticketless fans and fans with fake tickets trying to gain entry.
The madrid end has better access, madrid fans didn’t turn up en masse without tickets.Police and stewards seem to have handled the Madrid end of the ground so much better .
