Where did you get that figure from ?Worse case scenario he goes out on loan again for 3/4 million and sold January or next summer. We have already made 4 million from Spence loan to Forest.

Do we bench Jones ?If he stays he plays surely! He has never played under Wilder and might be willing to give it another go here under a new manager. You don't stick a good player in the reserves because a few fans have seen their **** with him, we are trying to get promoted and he has shown he could help us achieve that if his head is on right. We could do with the money but we can be shrewd enough to build something without it too
Some article I read, we got £750 thousand for first loan then it was renegotiated in January with a good bonus for promotion which made it around the 4 million mark.Where did you get that figure from ?
Thanks for explaining that. I just assumed it would be when the money hit the bank account. This is a better method for Boro seeing how Gibson puts money into the club as well. When we get the money, or pay the money is cash flow. Don’t worry about that.
When we book a profit on player sale it all hits that year. If Spence is sold for£20m this summer it will all be booked as profit THIS year, impacting across the FFP calculations for 3 years.
If we buy Goykeres for £15m on a 4 year contract, then he will be amortised at £3.75m per season for 4 years until his book value on the balance sheet will be zero (as with Howson and McNair now). So the hit on FFP will be £11.25m across that same 3 year FFP period.
I’m not saying clubs won’t want fees up front and to delay instalments on purchases, but that is cash flow, not FFP which runs from Profit Before Tax with allowances added back in.

The players have a lot of say these days though. He only needs to kick up a fuss and his price comes down.Fair play to Coventry I say. I'm sure they are fully aware that Gyokeres isn't 'worth' 25 million. But he's their player, under contract and they want to keep their best player. If any of these big clubs are daft enough to cough up that crazy sum for a Championship striker who's had one good season then he leaves and Coventry are laughing all the way to the bank, if not he stays at Coventry.
I think you are right, some players who want out of a club will be very professional and bide their time but with the weaker characters like Spence once their head has gone it’s gone and that’s it.He doesn’t want to stay here though . There was a thread on here the other day about him deleting everything boro on this social media . He’s pretty much burnt his bridges doing that .
I think people have a very skewed perception of players not wanting to play for certain managers anymore , when it’s actually the club they don’t like either . It happened with braithwaite too, fans hated pulis so much they blamed him for braithwaite wanting away . Despite braithwaite being a **** and wanting out when monk was manager too. It’s the exact same here with Spence, he doesn’t want to play for us. Playing him is a waste of a position as he won’t play to his absolute best if he wants out. When a player decides they want out, they’re gone . Ramirez didn’t look the same either when his head was turned and he wanted out
And yet even Forest haven't even come in with any kind of offer. Something not right.Boro will only sell Spence for right price and don't depend on the sale
Chris Wilder discussed Djed Spence's future and Middlesbrough's right to receive a fair pricewww.gazettelive.co.uk
If Spence had anything about him he’d be wanting to play for
Forest like the rest of the footballing world know he wants to go to London. I thought that all the time he pledged allegiance to them. And yet even Forest haven't even come in with any kind of offer. Something not right.
Pretty sure Forest know he wants to go to Spurs hence why they’re not even trying for him. Given that they helped give him the chance he‘s had, you’d think he’d maybe have shown a bit of loyalty or respect for them. He’d probably start every week at Forest, he won’t even start 20 games for Spurs next season.Forest like the rest of the footballing world know he wants to go to London. I thought that all the time he pledged allegiance to them.
Whether or not there is a pre-arranged plan between him and Spurs for him to go there for the smallest amount possible and for us to be “low balled” remains uncertain.
It’s football, it’s what happens. I think a compromise will happen, we won’t get what we are asking but we will get more than they are offering.
I really do hope we don’t have to pay him anything to get him off our books but I suspect we will.
Negotiations are ongoing, all seem cordial otherwise bits would have been leaked to the media by disgruntled parties. So far all just soundbites and assumptions. He'll be gone by the end of the transfer window. The player wants to leave and Boro are open to selling him. All of this stuff in the media right now is just noise. Nobody outside of those directly involved in negotiations has any real idea what's going on. But it's an absolute certainty that he will have been sold before the transfer window closes IMO.
Where do you get this figure from? There is absolutely no way Forest will have paid £4m to loan Spence for the season, no way at all.Worse case scenario he goes out on loan again for 3/4 million and sold January or next summer. We have already made 4 million from Spence loan to Forest.
Sorry, should have read the rest of the thread ignore my last message. However, I'm still a bit sceptical as why would Forest renegotiate a deal they already had in place without a promotion clause? Some article I read, we got £750 thousand for first loan then it was renegotiated in January with a good bonus for promotion which made it around the 4 million mark.
