Northallerton

In what way FC? It will soon have a new Everyman cinema, it has retained Barkers, a better department store than any on Teesside, has several excellent real ale pubs and a thriving market.
Alongside the Everyman an Open Jar restaurant is opening - apparently there’s one in Norton, anyone know if they are any good?

Completely agree with you it even has a new bridge and a Majestic Wines 👍

To be fair, the new Wetherspoons in Northallerton, The Buck, isn't bad. Been in a couple of times and it's a good looking space.
Yep I've been also it's great, they've done that old building up really well spent months doing it. I know the champagne socialists on here slag Wetherspoons off but they have preserved and transformed a bit of history there 👍

Five Houses is unreal. I'm probably a simple man, but their pies are the stuff of my fantasies. That chicken and leek is so good I don't think anyone deserves it.

Their hot roast belly pork sarnies are to die for too - worth driving up there for alone!!

I'm not a massive Spoons fan and despite them being on my red list for many years I have been to the Northallerton one a couple of times and it is really good. They have done a fantastic job on the building and I think it really adds to the town.

A lot of screbs have moved in there unfortunately. It’s lost it’s small market town community feel, where everyone knew each. Lots of new builds going up, it’s going to end up like a smaller version of Ingleby Barwick

As a kid in the 50s Northallerton was a big day out for me from Thorntree on the odd Saturday. We were posh as we had a car. Mam and sister were left to go shopping in town. Dad would walk me along South Parade to the station to go loco spotting. That road seemed tortuously long and took ages to walk. Eventually got there to see an hour or two of the best Gresley Pacifics thundering through. Still get the shakes when I drive up there now on my annual visit to the area
