The clubs relations with ex players

Really not good is it. Seeing that tweet from Christie and listening to the Danny mills interview and other comments you see suggests it’s pretty poor to be honest.

Don't forget Downing on Undr The Cosh and Schwarzer's comments previously about the club too. Bernie as well. Get the feeling there's almost a chip on the club's shoulder if ex players make a name at the expense of the club. Strange, really.

Yeah, not good examples. Which is surprising when they do stuff like this: https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/2024/february/27/a/

It just feels like they aren't far off getting things right in most areas but keep shooting themselves in the foot.
Don't think the academy setup, which was honed by Dave Parnaby and Ron Bone and has carried through post-their time at the club, is the issue. It's a first team specific issue, it seems.

didn't Schwarzer say that after 10 years of blood, sweat and tears for the club he was effectively ignored by upper management as he left, and then 3 or 4 months after he left he received a cold computer printed thank you for your service letter.

Sounds a bit of bitterness from senior management towards him, which is silly as he had 10 solid years, played in nearly all our biggest games ever

Bit much, isn’t it?!

Played football for us, and we made him a multi millionaire in return. Footballers really do live in a bubble

He's still a human though, you put everything into a job for 10 years, and you're ignored as you leave, that's gonna hurt regardless how much you are paid.

Having said that about the Academy and ex-alumni, Isaac Fletcher left the club at the end of December and signed for Spennymoor the other day. In the club's own words he "has been a part of our Academy set-up since he joined our Under-10s". He just disappeared from the u21 squad on the website without a mention (this isn't the first instance). It could be that he doesn't want it advertised that he has been released but you'd think a good luck message might be appropriate.

Also made us back ten times what we paid him with that save against Man City alone.

Southgate as well who i dont think was on best terms with the club when he left . Marco branca was another.

Works two ways. Either ex-communicated or given a job. The majority of people we employ seem to be ex-players.

All these references of "senior management" are just the one bloke at the top though aren't they? Maybe anyone that isn't happy have said something negative at some point and Gibson hasn't liked it. It doesn't appear that he likes his judgement to be questioned.

I would say that happens to most employees, with a far lower wage in the pocket
Doesn't make it alright. Good people management is when you bring people on a journey with you, rather than working them into the ground then expecting gratitude when you give them the cold shoulder. I look at the likes of Brighton, Villa, etc, who celebrate the successes of talents who've gone onto great things rather than begrudging their success. Makes you a way more attractive prospect to players who want to be successful if you make it clear that you won't perceive ambition negatively.

Yet on other posts they get accused of "jobs for the boys" when they try to employ people like Woodgate, Gill etc ?

I dont disagree with your OP though, it seems you're either In or out, not much inbetween.
