I could see us signing Tom cannon if archer doesn’t happen . Hopefully our summer business is done early
Philogene was signed as a permanent deal so don't think he will be going back
Lol could be or maybe they have first option if they sell but I have no idea tbh it all sounds a bit murkyThis article implies Archer,Ramsey, and Philogene are on a buy back contract. FFP shenanigans me thinks.Cameron Archer’s future explained as Aston Villa transfer clause revealed

I guess it depends if the club asks him to bulk up over the summer and he overdoes it again.Coburn was going out on loan this season until we realised we couldn’t/wouldn’t be getting another striker in. With his injury situation and LL’s performances has his situation improved enough to consider him as back up or would he improve with another loan?
Exactly this. The Lath v Archer conversation is a none starter for me. To BoroMad87's point above. We need more than ELL and Coburn as understudy IF we are seriously having a tilt at top 2.
How many points when ELL wasn't firing or was injured did we drop through missed chances. 5 against Rotherham for starters. No strikers coincided with our poor run.
Touch wood it doesn't happen, but totally reliant on one guy to 1. Be red-hot all season 2. To stay fit for 46 games plus cup games ... Is a big risk and defo something to not get you promoted.
Whether it's Archer, Cannon or whoever, we need another top notch finisher along with ELL
Why would he be a good shout? (not having a go by the way).Tom Cannon could be a good shout, only played 13 games for Leicester, scoring twice. he is on a 5yr contract, but cannot see him playing in the Premiership.
Is this not a direct contradiction? We should be building a team around Latte Lath - not trying to replace him.
Our style of play isn't going to change - we play with 1 striker and will play with 1 striker next season - so we don't need Archer. We do need a good backup option though.
Is this not a direct contradiction?
We don't need Archer but we do need a good back up.
Why can't Archer be that player? Let them compete for a place. There's plenty of matches across the season. Anywhere from 46-55 depending on cup runs. We need two strikers who are competative. There'll be dips in form, injuries as well as fatigue over a season.
Being too expensive is different to saying we don't need him.Archer cost a reported £18 million and he's on a reported £30k/week at Villa.
Fans need to move on.

Like you said we need a second striker. I think it would be wrong to consider them a back up. We need another competative striker. Archer would be excellent and would improve the squad massively. Basically you are replacing Coburn, not Lath.
All the top teams in the Championship this season have 2 or 3 really competative strikers that share the game time.
Look at Leciester. Vardy has only played 42% of their Championship minutes and has got 18 goals. Ideally we want two strikers who are a high standard.
Or an Ipswich approach where they loaned a PL striker who helped get them over the line. We could do the same with Archer (or someone else). No one knows what it'll take to get him here but we've managed to do it before. A lot of rumours flying about that Rogers add-ons could be re-negotiated to make the deal easier."Ideally" - 100% agree - it's the same for every position - I'd want 2 teams full of premier league standard players - but realistically it's not going to happen.
Latte Lath will be the main man next season. We won't be spending anywhere near £10 million+ on an Archer-type striker.
Comparing us to Leicester and their £200m+ squad value doesn't work - We need more of a Norwich/Sargent or a Coventry/Gyokeres approach.
One main striker and a few backup options. Coburn can be one of them, but we need another.
