£7 a Pint

That does seem pricey. Pretty sure Guinness (higher cost per unit) is sub seven quid at Manchester airport.

I'm in Sheffield, a town not renowned for being expensive for drinkers but I would say a pint of lager in a decent establishment is hovering around the six pound mark these days.

Is that per person
It is but if you get a few drinks and something to eat in the terminal it's about the same price, plus uncomfortable seats and minging toilets, likewise buying some stuff on the plane if not a short flight

We just see the £25 as part of the cost, it starts the trip off on the right foot. We definitely get our moneys worth.

Usually few beers to choose from, wines, spirits. Food depending on the time of day and lounge, and usually cans/ bottles / crisps/ nuts etc which make the flight better. We usually go down early in case of delays and max the time out in the lounge. Always been a good experience.

They have a screen in there for departures and if it'd delayed you're usually fine to stay longer

Paid £5.60 for a pint of Moretti in the city centre before the match couple of weeks ago. Begrudged that too.

I nearly spilt my tea when I read that!! Can anyone tell me what’s going on with inflation? It’s beyond reason.
Every time I go into my second local (Coronation) they seem to be putting the beer up. They must have made 3-4 price increases in the last 12 months.

It does feel like some places take the pish at times, and it’s been happening since Covid re-opening. But there are various factors that drive it, so expect it to an extent.

The worst one I had recently was Dr. Watsons (previously the Slaters Pick). £25 for a pint and 3 x Rum and Cokes. The coke was warm, poured out of a plastic bottle and they had no ice. On the till it looked like they were charging coke mixer at the same price as a glass of coke (£3!!!). Wish I had have challenged it now but was in Post Match Euphoria with the lads and just paid it.

I used to like the Slaters Pick. It’s a chithole now. Definitely won’t be going back.

It’s 3.25 for a pint of Theakstons in my local club. 5.50 At the pub in the village. Used to pay 2 quid in the Sam Smiths till they closed it down. Same pint in Sam smiths in London is 6 quid.

I used to love Slaters Pick, it is a sh1thole now and last time they had some DJ on blasting out tunes as if he was a large room. Unbearable.

I think places are trying to claw back lost income with the lockdowns. Mt hair cut before was 7.50, it is now 11.50. Glad i haven't had a pay rise in 7 years to make up the difference :D

I used to pay a fiver in central Stockton; I now pay £18 in my local lol. Much better booking by app though instead of waiting an hour for everyone else in the shop to get seen to

I use lounges for business travel. I can expense the lounge but not alcohol. Creative huh?

Must admit I drink very little macro lager - can still get an excellent pint of cask beer around the £4 mark in the city whereas craft keg can be up to £7 (but again, that's high quality).

Cost base has massively ramped up for pubs - not just costs of opening (energy, staffing etc) but pass through from breweries. I know energy prices have at least quadrupled for a pretty large brewery on the outskirts of Sheffield for example.
