7th most expensive club to watch in English football.

Its a flawed statistic as doesn't tell you how many tix are available at the cheapest price. Some clubs it could be 250 special tiny area and at other could by a whole section of one stand being thousands of seats. Plus Prem teams play less games , 19 homes games vs 23 so there is value descrepancy just there. Our adult ticket is £574 so there's an error there and who is to say there is not more errors in what has been compiled.
Plus the comparisons are last seasons prices - many haven't even announced levels/ rises yet.

No, cos the beer costs them next to nowt. Less than £100 per season per customer.

I mean they COULD but I don’t think they want to.
They could and maybe they should. I agree the cost price of beer is cheap for the Club but if they were to say ok we will stop the beer give away and will reduce the ST price I think most people would go with that. They would buy a pint anyway at the ground so the money they lose from the reduction in ST they could make up partly in beer sales they don't normally achieve.

I agree the Club have been poor in their comms and the prices do look too high for an area like ours. I await Gibbo's and the Club's response with interest over the next few days.

Can we save the dozens of threads on the subject and conclude that MFC are greedy and move on.
If people don't pay it and the club's purse is hit as a result they will take action. If they do pay we'll all continue to be ripped off ad infinitum.

I currently live in Spain & usually try to tie in my visits to the UK to tie in with Boro Home Games, trying to wherever possible get 2 home games in 5/6 days whenever possible. So far this Season l’ve managed Millwall(H), Cardiff(H), Plymouth(A)

West Brom(H) & l’ll also be at Blackburn(H). My costs for attending these 5 games in Flights, Hotels & Match Tickets, will surpass the cost of the Adult West Upper Season Ticket but l’m not wingeing about it, as l’m still of working age & l’m not interested in sitting in the cold at the Riverside in January & February unless we were back in the Prem & playing the Saudi Scum, Liverpool or Mam City. My Father is an OAP who is more than happy with what he pays, my Mother also used to go but stopped going post Covid, they were both & in my Fathers case still is entitled to the Free pint, but my Dad never bothers queuing up for his, despite enjoying pre/post match drinks with me in town. My Mother hardly drinks so would always give her Pint Voucher to me. I enjoy a good drink also but never usually get a pint at Half time unless it’s a scorching day in August/May, so whilst we’re only 3 in an average of 27.5K, l personally believe axing the Free Pint & passing that benefit onto the paying customers in the guise of a reduction in the Season Ticket Price is the most popular option.

You know what I do when I'm not happy about the price of something,? Vote with my wallet and don't pay.
If everybody who was unhappy didn't pay for one season then I'm pretty sure it would have a greater impact.
If the club saw that, say, half of season ticket holders were not renewing and they told them it was cos they were too dear then they'd have to have a serious look at that.
They haven't in the past More of a, so what

Only Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa Liverpool & Bournemouth are more expensive.

Genuinely interested. Justify it.

Where did the figures come from? Chelsea has been highlighted as being much higher.

To compare a couple, Fulham you would pay between £755 and £1,235 for a comparable seat depending on whether it's a renewal or new applicant according to a mate who has a season ticket. The price you have is to sit outside the touchline behind the goal.

Another mate paid £595 for a renewal at Leicester, again for a comparable seat.

I understand there is a meeting to discuss pricing. Be interesting to see what comes out of the meeting.

Need to be careful with these headlines, this comparison isn't comparing like with like even if the figures are correct. The better argument is that our prices are too high for the fans of tomorrow and discourage new applicants. As others have said the best protest is not to renew if you feel particularly strongly or genuinely can't afford it.

Whilst I wouldn't use the term 'greed' (football as a whole is greedy), I think the second sentence is a pretty good summary.

Where would people stand on the cost increases if there was an option to pay over 6mths that didn't have such an additional uplift on it so it cost the same as paying upfront.

I'm not sure why the club need to do this. The main thing with the season tickets is getting the fans tied in early so it gives the club certainty over income for the season ahead. Surely if they know the money is coming in they can account for this in a similar way to the way transfers are paid over a period of time. The cash flow can't be that tight that they need it all in one go.

I feel that prices probably need to go up given cost rises but I think giving fans the opportunity to spread the costs over 6mths would make it so much more palatable. Further penalising those that can't pay in one go just makes it harder to accept.

Yes I think they could have done something re finance. But charging people 8% interest on an already increased price isn’t going to win many over.

£42.50 a month suddenly doesn’t seem too bad though, compared to £510 within 3 weeks.

I’m massively against the price rise - but I’ve got to say this thread hasn’t got much basis. There’s only 4 clubs in the championship who have even announced their renewal prices. And we’re not even the most expensive of those.

It's an unjustified price increase for me, but we'll only know the full effect come next season's figures.

I think the free pint isn't worth writing home about, the beer at the ground is absolutely crap.

The free pint is only worth anything to those who would otherwise buy a pint.

I'd happily go without but I do use it most of the time even if its just a bottle of Sprite, cos I'm too tight to go without. I occasionally have a pint of Bud.

I'd happily see them get rid of the offer and have £50 back or whatever.

Yes, we are expensive, but I am sorry it is misleading to compare our prices to PL clubs. Those clubs can offer lower season ticket prices because they get huge revenue from other avenues – TV, merchandise, online platforms etc. Boro do not. It is of course fair to compare us to say Sunderland (although again get revenue from Netflix etc), preston, leeds etc.

We are expensive and concerning that one of our main revenue streams is through season tickets. The club should be looking at alternative avenues also.

If we were to be promoted then the price wouldn't be all of a sudden coming down. we have made our bed on the prices and now they will have to lie in it.
